Hey guys I am thinking about painting my car black. Do you guys have any suggestions of places I should go? Any advice? I heard Maaco is expensive and decent. Thanks
ugh, maaco is the worst place to get a car painted black, out of all the other colors black is the hardest to make look decent, and with maacos ****ty quality it will be even worse. if you are looking for a quote, http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=167 would be a good place to try, if you need any more advice there is also a forum on body work on the same site.
why black? why not drip your whip in some candy something yeehaw. with big rims 2wenty fos, speakers.
What kind of car do you have? Is it you're baby or just a driver? I have a classic Vette I considered painting black. A decent paint job would be 5k. A brand new engine is cheaper! Cosmetics will set you back...
Shop around, but request that any shop bidding on your work a) Use a base coat/clear coat urethane finish (either PPG, Dupont or Sikkens) and b) Detrim the vehicle for paint. Also make sure they figure to do a colorsand/buff once complete. Last, make sure you get a lifetime warranty. In the end, you'll get what you pay for.
I'm not really sure how much it will cost for that model. The dilemma when pinching pennies for a paint job is that you are going to strip or paint over an excellent factory quality paint job with a lesser quality job. But the trade off is you get the color you want. peleincubus- My Vette is an 82. Id trade it for an 80 though.
Why not just trade in your car for a black one and pay the difference. May actually be cheaper than paying to paint it.
I did a Maaco paint job years ago (15+?). We chose a gold (that was the color we were replacing) with the clear coat option (most expensive paint job they had). In less than 1 year (following all there instructions on waxing) and keeping it parked in a garage during the day and night, the paint faded to where it did have any shine at all. I took it back under warranty and had them do it again. The paint started to show signs of fading again in a short amount of time so I sold it. Lord forgive me for unloading that one (it was also reconditioned but we were upfront about that) for a car with new paint. I wouldn't get Maaco to paint anything you wanted to keep unless you like the flat black look.
not really . Buick Lesabres are pretty expensive cars. To trade it in to get a black one would cost more.
