Advice? I bought my wife a new car thinking my truck would hold out longer, but it's ready to give up the ghost now so I need a car. Painfully, I've elected to pass on a new truck and am looking for a car under 30 grand, with nice interior, decent driveability, and good gas mileage. Price is a big factor since I already put the money into the wife's ride. I'll be honest up front, I am not in love with the Fusion's body. (Considering hybrid as well) I just think it's very unremarkable and there isn't a good thing to say about it, but there isn't much bad either. I also don't love Fords (current truck is ford 01) and am concerned about their company moving forward. Edit: In it's favor is the potential hybrid model, more interior room than the coupe, and lower price, plus better deals. The Accord option is the coupe only as I hate their 4 door model. Thoughts? Are the Fords reliable these days? The other option I've considered is the new VW CC because it is a beautiful car and fun to drive.
OK. LOL, well since the Accord Coupe is in the high 20s to about 30, what is a reasonable number I should be able to talk them down to?
First, go to the dealer and figure out exactly what car you want...test drive etc. Then go home and request a quote through all the honda dealerships websites in houston. Once you get a quote from everyone, send the lowest dealers quote to all the other dealers and ask them if they can beat it. You may be able to do this a couple of times. When going through this online, you will be dealing with the fleet manager who's job it is to sell as many cars as possible. You should be able to get the car for a few hundred dollars over their invoice. I've done this a couple times before, it works like a charm, especially with honda since there are so many dealers around town.
If I had to pick one blindly I would go with the Accord. But from what I've read, the fusion is not a bad car by any means. Thing is, why buy a car that's good when you could buy a car that's great? You should definitely give them both a test drive or two before you decide. Also check out the Mazda6? Looks great, tons of interior room. Should feel sportier than either of your other two options. Then again, I'm kind of a Mazda fanboy, so my recommendation comes with a little bias (and no actual experience with any of these vehicles) My dad has a 6 cylinder camry that I quite like
Seems like you're already set on the Accord but if you don't like the design of the Fusion, take a look at the 2010 Milan. Fusion and Milan are identical except for the exterior. The Fusion/Milan hybrids are receiving very high marks but Honda definitely owns the market especially since Toyota has gotten lazy with the Camry. EDIT: Also the Mazda6 is receiving very high marks too. I'd check that one out.
I'm looking at their website and see that the kind you are looking for is almost 29k. I'm sure you can knock off 2k at least from that car.
I hate the Camry. Anyone with anything positive about the Fusion? The price is good and they have zero percent financing I believe so while I prefer the Accord I'd love to be convinced the Fusion is worth it.
You know, if the Ford is outfitted with big spikes on the hubcaps and a cannon on the hood, I wouldn't bet against it.
These two cars are what you have come down to? They are so different I do not understand. The price gap is massive, and you are thinking of a 4dr in one and a 2dr in the other. I think you have other choices to make before you are actually down to thinking about two different cars.
Well my process was long and complex. I eyed the VW CC (favorite of the bunch) but decided I didn't trust VW so opted against it. I considered the Nissan Altima. I test drove it and just didn't like it. I don't know why really, but I didn't like the feel of the car or the exterior. I hate the Camry so I won't consider it. I loathe the Civic so I put it aside. I went and looked at an Accord Coupe and really liked it, but there's no way I'm willing to pay sticker on the ones they have on the lot. Out of what I want to spend. It is still the one I am most happy with though when packaging style, class, comfort, and reliability. My wife looked into the Fusion and recommends it. It's cheaper (significantly) but it lacks the style I really want, but I don't hate it like the ones I ruled out in its category.
