i just wanted to get your opinions. My brother and i want to buy a mustang anything between 641/2 to 70 and i just want to know what you think. keep in mind i want this as a prodject and i cant throw down $50,000 on a BOSS 302 or a GT 350. The price range is that of a high school student ------------------ KD 12-21-99
You should be able to find some Mustangs available in the $2500-$4500 price range that are pretty nice. But don't expect to get anything to great, plus, you'd better be prepared to put some money and time into upkeep, because 30-yr old cares require some attention. And don't expect modern conveniences like power steering, air conditioning, FM radio or reliable brakes. Test drive the car thoroughly before purchase to make sure you want it. And make sure you get a good mechanic to look it over, you don't want someone foisting a lemon on you. A good place to start is the classified's(of course), and ask people why they are selling the car. People who have to sell the car will give you a better deal. I almost bought a '69 T-bird with a 427 for only $2500, and it was in great condition. I didn't buy it though because a better deal came along. Of course, you could get lucky like I did and find a "garage queen", a car that spent many years not being used and is in pristine condition. Those require less upkeep, and you'll probably get a good deal on it too. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! My first suggestion is to go to or join a Mustang board, mailing list, or users group. If you're a broke high school kid, the last thing you want to do is fork over a ton of money and then find out you're way over your head. Ask people that know about the cars themselves. You said the price range is for a student. Man, when I was in high school my price range could've bought me a Hot Wheels Mustang (and that's if I saved). ------------------ NBA Draft Lottery is May 20th. Start praying now.
When I was in high school, my parents bought me my first car. It was a 67 Mustang. They paid $500.00. Unfortunately a spaced out freak ran into me (after he ran a red light) and totaled it. The insurance company gave us $600.00. I got to keep $100.00 and my parents got their money back. ------------------
There's a guy in an apartment complex where an ex of mine lives that is selling a 68 for 2k. It needs work, but it is all original....and it runs. I thought of buying it myself, but don't have the time and patience right now to do the restoration work. Of course, I live in Dallas..... ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I would suggest buying a 68 Camero SS instead, or maybe a 'Cuda. Mustangs are just so cliched and I personally would be happier with a car that you don't see all over the place. ------------------ You can't stick a porcupine in a barn, light it on fire, and expect to get licorice.

I will try to get the guy's phone number next time I am over that way. Hopefully he still has it. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
