So I was going North on 59 and I was driving maybe 65-70 and I noticed this truck slowed down very quickly, but I didnt think too much of it, until I saw him move to the right and some crazy chick was facing the opposite direction on the shoulder (emergency) lane. I was on the far left, so think of it as a two way. Anyway I couldn't go to the right as there were 2 stupid cars blocking my way. So only thing left to do was to slow down, well going from 65-70 to 5-10 is not what I expected, the car skid to the right and then to the left. It almost seemed I was better off driving at the same speed right past her. Anyway the point is I was about 1 foot from hitting her, but she stopped right when I got to her and I quickly noticed the cars to my right moved. I got on my right lane and I didn't hit her. I looked at her straight in the eye and she had this crazy look. Could this had been a suicide attempt? If she was in that situation by accident, how the hell did that happen? So now I am wondering if anyone saw her, she was driving a black sedan, possibly an accord(new model) or altima.
I don't understand. Even if she was going the wrong direction, if she was on the shoulder, how were you in danger of hitting her?
I would have slowed down because A) it's a shocking thing to see, and B) because what if the driver was intentionally looking to cause a head on collision?
Dude it was crazy, and you are right it was a shocking thing to see, after the skidding and loss of control was over I felt so nervous, and just shocked at how fast I
was moving, and the fact that she was moving as well, probably not at the same speed but my speed plus her speed could have easily been a fatality. Just hope no one out there was injured, or worst.
Agreed. Unless I'm missing something, it seems to me the person who screwed up in this situation was OP. If I had been behind OP I'd have been pissed. Slamming your breaks and dropping 50 MPH because you saw something on the shoulder that startled you?
I was on 59N and 610W once, and a pick-up truck cut over a bunch of lanes to get onto the 610 entrance at the last second. He vaccilated at the end as to whether he'd get on or not, and ended up fish-tailing. He went perpendicular to traffic and hit a car, and then ended up going backwards on the freeway, before swerving around and stopping across two lanes. It could just be that you saw the aftermath of someone losing control of the vehicle and getting turned around.
I was on 59 southbound I think around the first month I lived here, and this stupid b**** in a Camaro with racing stripes was just jetting through traffic, switching lanes at will. I see her take the fountainview exit, which is where I need to turn... she tries to suddenly cut across 4 ****in lanes of traffic to make the exit, she ends up either clipping another car or the divider or something and just fish tails and ends up sideways in the middle of the road, blocking off the exit for everyone. I wanted to make sure she was ok at first, and she looked really shaken up, but alright. So after that we all just backed up and somebody already called the cops. Stupid b****.
I'm sure he meant he was in the fast lane ("far left") and the shoulder was next to the fast lane ("think it of two way"). He had no choice but slow down to avoid hitting her because cars on his right was blocking him. That's what I'm picturing it, right?
The crazy look was probably from being freaked out about being backwards on the freeway. That's not a good place to be.
Correct, I was going 65-70 and I am pretty sure she was moving, and at that speed it is nowhere near the same as a two way going 15-20
