    In their desperation to build up enough payroll to compete with the Yankees, the Expos hav started to steal the clothes off their fans' backs. A team spokesman said that he felt that this would be a poor strategy in the long run as it would drive fans away from the stadium, but later recanted when reminded of their attendance.
