http://sportsradiointerviews.com/2009/06/16/stephen-jackson-has-gained-some-weight-in-a-good-way/ I am generally dubious about what extra weight, even muscle does for a wing player in basketball. It's not like Jackson was getting pushed around before or need the weight to guard Shaq, but who knows. There are reports he's not all that happy in GS (then again, who is?). Wonder if he'd thrive elsewhere.
People have scoffed at the idea of having Jackson on the Rockets with Artest, but I think he would be a good fit. He's a tenacious defender, good outside shooter, good passer, and clutch player. He's not the ideal playmaker for this offense, at times he can be a ball stopper, and he does take some ill-advised shots, but he led the NBA (I believe) in mins played last season and showed real nice playmaking skills. His assist totals would've been higher if the Warriors finished better. He also showed leadership, heart, toughness, etc... His ballhandling skills have improved, which led to him become a better playmaker. He still does dribble the ball kinda high and that leads to turnovers. In the spirit of full disclosure, he is also coming off of toe surgery (a minor issue I think that's been bothering him for a few years). He's a hard worker (as the article shows) and I think he (and Artest for that matter) are at the right point in their careers where they've matured and are focused on winning. Golden State would be an ideal target for Houston to deal McGrady. They need cap relief. T-Mac for Jackson, one of their bigs, and a filler. Brooks/Lowry Jackson/Wafer Artest/Battier Scola/Landry Yao/Back-up center from from Golden State
the hands are holding a glock jackson said he got it as a reminder, he prays that he would never have to use a gun again
I'd love SJax on this team. Between him and Artest, people might just forfeit games to avoid getting abused.
Yeah, I like that wacko jacko plays D and is unselfish but I think he's more of a SF. If we got him it would be better for us to trade either Ron or Battier for one of those less versatile scoring guard types that everyone else is pining for.
My guess is that despite being listed at 215 he was much heavier than that at the end of the season. You don't gain 25lb of muscle in two or three months unless you were malnourished to start. He was probably already 230 or so and added a few lbs.
