Capela shot 60% FT in D-League, 55% in Europe. Not good but still much better than he's shown in NBA. Good that he's showing it now AND improvement on top of that.

    In past 8 games he has a +/- of +75. That's +9.38 per game.

Only game he had a minus (despite 3 loses by the Rockets) was SA -5. He was +14 in the 8 point loss to the Pacers.

OK so Lucas proved he can help improve ft shooting. Now can we get him to improve perimeter defense?

The kid fits like a glove, be interesting to see how his story continues with one year left on the rookie contract. He defends relatively well, it's been our help defense that's been atrocious in the paint.

Yeah, our defensive struggles are largely at PF and SG. Not much anyone can do to help. I really wish we could give Montrezl Ryno's jumper.

Are you guys saying you've grown to LOVE Clint Capela?

    Welcome to the party.

I think Capela will be a 60%+ career ft shooter, not great but good enough to keep from being hacked. Do believe he will have a 65% season or two down the road as well.

FT's? I think he could start popping some 3s by next year if he worked over the summer. He actually has a nice shot.

I don't see it, I haven't seen him attempt any type of jump shot ... ever. Not even a 3-10 ft jumper (unless it was a shot clock thing). His FT shot is clearly not a jumper transferable shot either, it's very slow and heavily reliant on his focus and on a set release. I don't think he'll ever develop a jumper, if he does it would be really interesting, but I like him in the paint, we need defense and rebounding from center, almost every big who develops a jumper has declined rebounding and D due to switch of focus.

I can see where you are coming from. But I will say in order to be a better FT shooter you need to shoot jumpers (at least in practice). He's been shooting 3s in practice I'm sure for that very reason.

Big difference between game FTs and practice FTs for those who are not use to shooting. Jumpers in practice time and off the dribble help keep that muscle memory in tact and allow you to learn how to block out distractions.
