Someone please tell me if I'm missing something here: http://www.spotrac.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/cap/ Salary Cap: 94.143M Guaranteed Contracts + Jason Thompson Dead Cap = 74.715M Cap Space: 19.428M This is without Barnes, Speights, Ezeli, Barbosa, Clark, McAdoo, Rush, Varejao and the other randoms. The remaining roster outside of the starting 5 would be: Iguodala, Livingston, Looney, McCaw Does this mean they would have to trade Bogut in order to make this deal work? So if no team is willing to help them out, the move doesn't go through? And even if the move went through, they would be left with a 4-deep bench? Aren't they required to sign another 9 players? What the hell is going on?
I believe they have a couple trades on the table for Bogut, and they can fill out the rest of the roster with minimum contracts (you can sign as many of those as you want I believe).

Bogut will be gone soon. Also They will draw in alot of players willing to take pay cuts and play with them.
These numbers matter a lot. KD will likely opt out next summer and GSW will have to pay him (without bird rights) AND Curry (with bird rights) That's a hell of a lot of money even with the bigger cap
GS has 6 proven players, 2 guys on rookie deals and must fill out the rest using the room exception, $1.3M in cap room or minimum contracts. This is basically what Miami did back in the days, too-- getting contribution from the likes of Battier, Ray Allen, Birdman, Rashard Lewis, Chalmers and Norris Cole. It will be curious to see what they manage to pick up with this cap environment, though, where even Garrett Temple is getting paid several times more than what GS can offer. They are reported, for example, to want Pau Gasol. But will Gasol turned down, say, $20M per year from Portland to chase another ring in GS?
The big thing with them is once they renounce Barnes and Ezeli, they are as good as gone, which is important.
Which vets? I am thinking about bigs like David Lee or Zaza Pachulia, two guys who have made some money in their long careers already. But the market indicates that these guys could get maybe $10M a year. Oldie Pau Gasol is reported to have received $40M over 2 years from Portland. Even Trevor Booker got $9M/year for 2 years.00 Maybe when all the FA musical chair game stops somebody will get left in the cold. But it would seem that such players are gonna be really over the hill or real scrubs. Chris Kaman maybe?
Gasol just signed with Spurs at a discounted 15mil. Yes, GSW would need bigs. I doubt they would want David Lee back, but Zaza could be an option. Surely there will be players waived later they could potentially sign Vet min to. What I was saying is that they won't have trouble fitting that minimum players on the team for sure, and probably get some good players at vet min who want to get a ring.
