Cap experts: What is the Rockets' exact cap space now?

    Now that the Rockets did not pick up the option to extend Carlos Rogers' contract and now that they only have one first-round pick (No. 7) and one second-rounder to sign, they should have even more cap space than originally expected.

    Please help me with this question:

    Can we realistically

    - sign Webber;
    - re-sign Hakeem for about 3-5 mio./year;
    - re-sign Moochie and Bullard;
    - pick up Langhi's option?

    I would then NOT re-sign Mo and Shandon. I think that is all we would need to contend for a championship - if we could add Outlaw and/or LaFrentz through trades, our chances would be even better.

    As I see it, we must have around $ 16.5 million in cap space now. Is that correct? If it is, then why not say 10 mio. to Webber, 4 to Hakeem, about 1.5 to Moochie and the rest somehow split between Bullard and Langhi? We would be SET for the next year and then, in future drafts, trades and free agency, all we would have to worry about would be finding a replacement for Hakeem once he retires because we would be set at ALL other positions for years to come!

    Damnit, the real reason I wanted to post was to test my new signature and then I unchecked that box [IMG].

    ------------------
    Rockets' offseason tasks in order of priority:
    • Get rid of Cato under any circumstances.
    • Sign Chris Webber.
    • Re-Sign Hakeem.
    • Re-Sign Moochie and AirBullard.
    • Pick up the Langhi option for another year.
    • Trade for Bo Outlaw and Raef LaFrentz.

    [IMG] - I realized that apparently, there is no length limit for signatures...but don't worry, I will not be using it for long.

    If you post twice in a thread, that's a new page added to the thread. Geez!

    Well, according to my calculations, and going by the RealGM.com salaries, Houston would be 18.5 million under the cap with the option of Langhi picked up, and these players with options: Rogers, Taylor, and Anderson, not counting against the cap.

    That would leave 6 million to Taylor. 12.5

    Dream for 7 million? 5.5

    Norris for 1.5 million. 4

    No one will find a center for 4 million. So, it's either Dream signs for less and go after Jackson/Mohammed, or just give Dream the money if Jackson/Mohammed don't want to go to Houston.
