C'mon you draft experts, I know it's possible!
It's CD and RT we're talking about here, the best damn draft whizes in the NBA outside of Memphis!

Oh and I also find it rather ominous that Cuttino and Francis seems to have given up on Morris... I guess he's not really in the Rockets' future after all...

Not going to happen unless you give up Mobley or Francis.

Maybe if Cat is part of the deal.

You have obviously confused Donald Sterling with an owner who pays Max contracts and who prioritizes keeping talent and winning over low payrolls.

The primary reason Odom is on the blocks is he will want Maxed next contract. Sterling does want or need Francis or Mobley.

    Interesting point. Would you do...

    Cat
    KT
    #15

    for

    Odom
    Sean Rooks
    #8

for example? That fits salary-wise, Rooks is a free agent after next season and we get the #8 to draft a 2 or 2/3 combo. That would also seem to be a fairly even deal - they get one of the better scorers at his position and a young, cheap power forward plus a pick. We get a young, talented 3, a big man and move up to #8.

The only problem is that it leaves us with a GIANT hole at 2 but the free agent crop at that position is better than most and Odom can play minutes at that position with his skills.

I would have suggested Maggette or Richardson but I don't see the Clips giving either of those guys up for KT and Cat.

    Jeff,

Better to have a hole at the 2 spot then the 3 or 5, as we have now.

Also, I think in time OT would be a fine replacement for Cat, he is already a better defender and is much stronger and is a move without the ball type player, so he compliments Francis better.

I think OT would do quite well ....check out this lineup.

    Francis
    Torres
    Odom
    Taylor/Griffin
    Ming

Oh man, that is a MUCH...MUCH better team.

I'm gonna be greedy. I want Ming, Odom, AND Butler.

    1. Draft Ming #1
    2. Trade Cuttino for the #4 or #5 pick and draft Butler
    3. Make an arrangement with Chicago to not trade the #1 pick if they give us Crawford. Trade Crawford, KT, and #15 for Odom.

    Starting Lineup:
    Ming
    Griffin
    Odom
    Butler
    Francis

Damn! That would be an awesome team.

The Clipps own the draft rights to Marko Jaric who is 6'6" and one of the premier SG's in the Euroleague. (Selected 1st Team in the recent Euroleague finals).

That would be one of the lowest scoring teams in the NBA and one of the worst shooting teams as well. Oscar Torres hasn't even done anything to convince me of keeping him on the team, much less starting.

GATER-I've heard Jaric is a 6'7'' PG, not a SG.

SFs seem to be more plentiful than SGs this offseason...unless any of you have a profound interest in Larry Hughes?

What I was wondering...could we get both Nene Hilario and Caron Butler with our pics? It would be a bit like rebuilding, but everyone seems to think that Butler will be ready to contribute from day one and Nene is a project, but he could be a gem.

I'd still prefer Ming and a 3, but I think I could live with the above scenario - it would help if we could dump a contract or two. Anybody have some ideas how this could get done?

    NIKE -

For some reason, the Euro sites don't seem to differentiate SG & PG easily. Here is a link from the official Euroleague website:

    http://www.euroleague.net/

Page down and see Jaric and Tyus Edney are the guards. I recall that Edney was a PG, right?

    And here is Jaric's profile:

    http://www.euroleague.net/plantillas/jugador.jsp?id=ANM

As much as the Europeans are supposed to pass, he has a meager assist total for a PG. Perhaps he is a combo guard ala Roger Mason.

Cuttino will not get you the 4th or 5th pick. Maybe around the 8th pick, but not that high.

You cannot trade players as part of deals like that, only money and potentially picks. The Bulls would not give up Crawford that easily, and what's to say that the Bulls would have any reason to believe the Rockets?

I think Cat for Odom is a good deal for the Rockets. Rice can play 2. Odom can play a very big two. Torres can play 2. There are always 2s available - it's the deepest position in the league. Getting an Odom is not so easy, year in year out - passing 3's are harder to come by. If Sterling gets two cheap players in Cat and KT who fill needs for his team, plus a pick, that should be a selling point with him facing cap headaches. Excluding emotions and chemistry issues, it's a simple deal.

    Ming/Cato
    Griffin/Taylor
    Odom/Griffin/Rice
    Rice/Torres
    Francis/Moochie

That should be a good passing team, any player able to hit the open shot, with 2 black holes gonzo. You still have plenty of starpower to iso in the clutch, when your stars have to get it all by themselves. You don't have too much.

The problem I see here is Clippers already have Q and Maggette.
If Maggette becomes the starting 3 and Q will backup Mobes, maybe Sterling oks, given the good contracts he takes back.

    Clippers

    Kandi - resigned
    Brand - resigned/ KT
    Maggette/Miles
    Mobes/Q
    Mc Innis/Dooling

Plus picks 8 12 and 15, where they pick up a 1 a 4 and a 5. That's pretty ok. Other teams can offer better player packages, but not likely at the right cheap Sterling contracts. Cleveland, on the other hand, could offer Miller plus # 6 for Odom plus 12. That would be a better deal for Sterling. We'll have to wait and see.
