I cant believe it. 3 months at this new company I am working for and they already offered a transfer back to Austin.... just when I was getting acustomed to living in H-town!! Could they maybe have waited a year or something?? I guess its a good thing in many ways, but I was starting to really like living here. I guess technically I do have a choice to stay or not, but I dont want to look bad in the companies eyes. Crap..... Im faced with another serious decision!! I would be getting a pay raise to move back, and would be considered one of the owners "boys" whatever that means.

Need some advice from the business savvy experts....

    One confused Drewdog....

A pay raise, job security, and moving back to a city you liked before. If it was me there would be no problem making this decision.

    Take the offer.

Means you are a made man, unless you really mess up.

All things being equal, what would you want to do? Then weigh the pros and cons. The move sounds like the best deal, but I don't know of your personal ties. What was your reason for moving in the first place again?

If you like working for this company, take the deal. You would be one of the bosses' favorites, and would have job security.

Quit bragging. Or are you seriously asking for help to make up your mind?

I moved here 3 1/2 months ago to take this job here in Houston. I knew the possibility of being transferred was good, just didnt know how soon it would be. Expected to be in Houston for at least a year or more....

Just sucks to uproot your life again after such a short period of time....

    Drew,

You will still have to travel back to Houston from time to time to meet with that office, so take the job.

They probably brought you on knowing that you might be the perfect guy to be a contact in Austin.

You should NEVER turn down a promotion, generally if you do, you are on the way out at the company.

Take the pay raise, come back home, and visit Houston more often.

    DaDakota

PS. oh, and welcome back !!

Man, its only ~2.5 hours down the road. Its not like they're asking you to move to Alaska or something. You like Austin, you'll get a raise. Sounds like a simple decision to me.

    Great to meet you, Drewdog!

2 1/2 hours? Do you get a lot of speeding tickets?

2.5 hours? Slow poke, get a valentine-1 or get out of the fast lane. I am a confessed speed demon. I had to do something about it.

    360 degrees of protection!

It has seriously saved me from about 50 tickets.

Well, I DO come from Texas City and not Houston, so I guess the 2 1/2 hours suprised me a little. Takes me about 3 1/2 hours to get from TC to Round Rock.

I guess I'm so poor that I can't afford a high insurance premium, so I drive like a grandma. :)
