I probably made 2 other threads on the topic, but I think I'm going to lose it. I got hit in the mouth Monday, since then I've had two very painful canker sores, and it looks like they're spreading but who knows. These things hurt like a b****, I've done Orajel, Aleeve, Salt walter. All with a little success. Any tips for fast and lasting pain relief?
Go to CVS and buy Orabase made by Colgate. It stops the pain, treats it, and it forms a seal over it to keep things from touching it. It is all you need.
A family member has this issue often and the dentist was able to prescribe a rinse (I think it's a combo of Maalox and some numbing agent). So you may ask your dentist or doctor. Guess it won't help your current problem but maybe for the future.
I had one for a week and the boo went away. Ish looked like a huge white head in my mouth. It gets better homey, keep your head up.
I consider myself an expert on the matter. I have no idea what I've done to deserve such torture but I go through phases where I literally get 8 to 10 of them in my mouth at a time. As I am typing this I count 4. I think for me it is stress induced but after suffering from them for years the pain does not bother me as much (unless I accidentally bite down on one). One of the best ways to dull the pain for a while is using Pyralvex. It will burn like hell for the first 5 seconds and tastes like crap but out of everything I have used it works the best.
I've had problem with these sores my entire life. Every time I get a small cut a sore develops. I've never found anything that makes it heal faster. As far as pain relief, I have found Kanka to be the best. It only provides temporary relief, but that's better than nothing. Kanka is very similar to the stuff the dentist uses to make your mouth numb before he sticks you with the needle. Now days I usually just tough it out for the 5 days or so it takes for the sores to heal, not fun I know.
Head to CVS and buy "Canker X" that stuff works. http://www.amazon.com/G-U-M-Canker-Maximum-Strength-Relief/dp/B00112EF8E
I got mine at the corner drug store, but then again I'm in Lima. Try googling it or going to the pharmacy and asking.
I have sharp incisors and I bite my lower lip sometimes when I eat, often drawing blood. After I do this, I know I'm in for a week of pain with a huge canker sore. I don't bother treating them any more, I just deal with it. They don't spread and they'll go away after a few days. Bit myself so hard last time, I now have a scar inside of my lip.
I have a prescription just for this reason. If I start even feeling a cold sore or canker coming I take about half a pill and it's gone. I have been getting cold sores since I was a small child and it was the worst thing in my life...I would get 3-4 at a time and it sucked.
