I was just wondering, can you really imagine organization of Houston Rockets in 5 years. Can you imagine our new franchise best player? Can you imagine anything? Can Yao and T-Mac win a title, can you really imagine them after all these years holding the NBA championship in their hands smiling? Or smiling like veterans picking up draft lottery jersey and saying next season rookie comes? In that particular case Yao would have 33 and McGrady also, that's pretty veteran and some of the youth comes in. Can you imagine them in Hakeem, Clyde style winning a ring? What will happen in next 5-10 years with this club? Lottery or third NBA championship?
Yao will still have his turn around shot hitting nothing but net but unfortunately Tracy McGrady will be doing the same thing only problem is he will be doing it in a wheelchair.
I, personally, cannot see T-Mac and Yao be dominant 5 years from now. They both just don't have the bodies to sustain the rigors of the NBA season. I wish I was wrong, but I don't think I am. By then, we could be back to the Francis-Mobley era of mediocrity, with Aaron Brooks, some new hotshot draft pick, and Landry trying to win, but eventually staying in the middle of the West and never winning outta the 1st round. The Bulls, and Hornets will be kicking butt daily, and the Utah Jazz will have been removed from the NBA for sucking.
This team won't be contending for Titles in 5 years unless Tmac is replaced. I can't imagine any scenario where McGrady is effective (I doubt he will still be playing) in 5 years. I seriously doubt Yao will be as effective either and again possibly not even in the league. I know that sounds harsh but 33 is an OLD basketball player these days and both guys have injury problems and those only get worse with age. If either guy is still around I think it will be Yao and IF he can stay healthy he could probably still be good for 16/8 which is pretty decent. Simply put, I can't predict where this team will be but if Tmac or Yao is the franchise's best player in 5 years then the Rockets will be a lottery team. I'll put my flame suit on now for the kids out there who are upset that I didn't say Yao will be the best player in the league at 33.
tmac will probably is already retired 5 years from now at the age of 34. yao will probably be on his last legs. so hopefully the team will have another superstar to build around 5 years from now.
I imagine The Dream being back as the Assistant teaching the young he schooled Shaq and everyone else and Yao would be the shared franchise player with some young kid in his early prime like M.J(Not Michael Jackson)and have a team full of inmates
If you say yes, then you're a liar. If there's anything to wishful thinking, I imagine we should be a couple of titles better off than we are now. The ONLY thing I can say with any certainty is the pain in the ass Portland's gonna be. For all we know,... well I wont say it, but its ugly.
no way we can win.. without replacing tracy. 5 years, the only thing he's worth is expiring contract (or whenever that ends...) we could possibly trade tracy's contract to a team that needs to rebuild around a star, and has a star that is not working... kind of like tracy and howard... or carmelo and iverson. something to the resort.
I can't even imagine what'll happen in 2 years time let alone 5. For starters, in 2 years we're below the salary cap and can bring in a max FA to join Yao Ming. Perhaps AB will turn out to be a lightning offense guard in 2 years? At 29 Scola will be in his 'NBA prime' All I know is that if we have exactly the same lineup that we currently have, then in 5 years time we'll be getting old.
The Rockets window only extends through 2010, the last year of TMacs contract. I'm not even thinking about 2012/2013.
Put me in Dave 78 corner. If they don't add a impactful player in the next 2 yrs they might end up in the lotto like gsw. Portland will be coming up strong. I mean the west guarantee u nothing. What funny is with the exeception of n.o. and utah, everyone else best players are like the same age.
5 years is a long time. Hell, Lebron James could be a Rocket by then. We don't even know what's going to happen next year because our stars are so injury-proned.
I think at least we have passed the 1st round. And all depends if we get a consistent scorer in the team.
I can imagine someone bumping this thread up in 5 years But really, I wish the team would pick up some freshman stud.
I have absolutely no idea how we will be looking like but if I had to venture a guess it will be less likely to be a Championship team than a lottery team. I just hope we will all be here at the Clutch BBS though.
