two "boys" finally got caught and a third one being sought after for burning down 5 churches in alabama. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/08/national/main1381604.shtml after i read this i thought to myself, what would happen if the two that were caught were brown skinned muslim boys the first thing would be that their religion would be in the title, not 2 boys caught but 2 MUSLIM boys caught second, terrorist attack would be presumed and even if they said it was for a joke noone would believe them media bias, great isnt it
How can you burn down churches and call that a "joke that got out of hand"? There's no joke about setting something on fire. You either light it up or you don't. I hope they throw the book at them. These dumbasses don't even have a reason for doing this other than to claim it was a joke? I guess their education wasn't making them any wiser.
These people are terrorist. . .just like TIM MCVEIGH They should be thrown UNDER THE JAIL Rocket River but . .. they will probably get probabtion and a kiss on the forehead
Nothing personal, man. It's just I had to read your post 3 times to understand what you were trying to say.
OK, so when is the first round of "It's not their fault it's their environment" or "We have to understand where they're coming from" arguments going to come?
There is not justification for criminal actions that target innocents. There's hardly an excuse for arson, and in this case likely a racial motivation and possible 'hate crime' charges being filed. I am just glad no one got hurt, although there was extensive property damage from what I understand.
It happens anytime anyone does something wrong. We have a serious problem with personal responsibility in America. I meant it more as a joke but sadly it isn't far from the truth. Columbine - It's the music. Crime among the poor - It's their environment Terrorism - We have to understand why they do what they do There are plenty of examples but only one solution. We have to start making people take responsibility for their own actions.
Crime - it is still the criminal's fault, but the correlation between poverty and crime is undeniable. In the 90's when economics started improving the crime rate started going down. That is a trend that has been around for ages. I would rather keep the economy strong and crime low. We can fight crime by fighting the symptoms which are the actual acts, or we can treat the disease and use prevention which is fighting against poverty. That isn't making excuses for anyone, it is just looking at the facts and trying ot have a comprehensive approach to solving it. Terrorism - Again if we want to fight it, then it is essential to understand why it happens and why they do what they do. We don't need to understand it to let them off the hook for their actions, but to prevent their actions, and take away the reasons why people become terrorists in the first place. It is a matter of acting before something happens, or waiting until it happens and then saying everyone needs to have personal responsibility.
I understand what you're saying. But we do that so much that it gets to the point that terrorism becomes justified to some. We can't let our empathy allow us to forgive crime and terrorism. That's what I'm afraid of.
