I have a friend who has a warrant and she is planning on flying to Vegas in January using her income tax money to have some fun before sitting out her time. She is then gonna turn herself into jail in February to sit out her time. She doesn't have a drivers license...just an ID, but the ID is expired.

Is an expired Texas ID good enough to board a plane? If not, do they check your record when renewing a DL or ID at the DPS office?

    Anybody?

Most of the dumbledweebs at the airport won't notice it's expired. I've gotten through with an expired license before.

She can fly with it. I flew with a student ID and my social security card before. If she goes to the DPS she'll get arrested.

As far as having an expired ID in Vegas she may not have much luck (it honestly depends on how she looks). I've seen people get turned away from clubs for that in Vegas before but if she's hot she can get into most clubs.

Technically, I think it is illegal to be anywhere in Texas without a valid ID. Or at least that's what a butthole cop told me one time when he caught me and my buddies...err...roaming about our school campus at 3am.

I doubt she'll be able to get onto a casino floor. They swipe your ID to check its validity. I'm willing to bet that an expired ID will trip the warning on that scanner they carry. Of course, that's assuming the ID you're referring to it a state issued ID e.g. a Texas State Identification card. If it's not government issue then there's no way in hell she does much of anything in Vegas.

As for the idea of heading to Vegas when there's a warrant out for your arrest. Well, I just don't know what to say about that...

Shortly after 9/11 the ppl at Austin-Bergstrom weren't going to let me fly out of TX with my expired TX drivers license, social security card, student ID card, and multiple bank and credit cards.... The ppl in Missouri didn't give a hoot what the hell I was carrying.

I've never had anyone swipe my ID in Vegas. In fact, I've never been carded in Vegas.

Same here. I've been playing in Vegas since I was 16. No questions asked, as long as the color is green.

I would not try it. Last year I went to Vegas not knowing my license was expired. I had a hard time getting on the plane. I had to go through a special verfication process and they had to a do manual search instead on me walking through the metal detectors. I was also carded while gambling at Luxor and they wouldnt accept my license since it wasn't valid ( I always get mistaken for being younger than I am). I gambled at other casinos with no problem though.

if you are lucky, nothing will happen. at worst, you will be searched a little extra at the airport.
