So I was at a Sonic sometime recently and ordered a burger and Cherry Limeade/Easy on the Ice. I paid with my CC.

So I get the order, eat the burger, start drinking my limeade when I noticed the cup was full of ice, certainly not what I would call Easy on the ice. I hit the order button and told them my limeade wasn't easy on the ice like I ordered. He asked "have you drank it already?" I said yes, that's how I noticed it wasn't easy on the ice. "Well since you already drank it we can't do anything about it." Not that I was really wanting anything but the way they said it irked me. I asked if I can talk to the manager, he said yeah. A young kid walked out which I knew wasn't the Mgr. and we started saying the same things we said over the PA.

He said he couldn't do a refill or refund since I already drank from it and most likely I drank most of it. I showed him the cup and asked him does it look empty cause I didn't drink it empty (it was 3/4 to half full). He refused to look at it and said the Mgr was too busy right now to come out, and he will say the same thing anyways. He went back inside so I hit the order button again, this time I noticed they didn't answer right away anymore. I kept pushing it until someone came on again, then I asked is the Mgr. coming out, he said no in so many words, I asked Why is your Mgr. such a coward to talk to a customer? Can he talk over the PA then? "No, he's too busy." I noticed someone else kept looking through the window from inside the Sonic kitchen, I surmised that was the Mgr.

So I sat there really steamed about the whole thing. Then I hit the order button again until someone came on, "May I take your order?"

"Ok, I'll give in and order another cherry limeade. EASY ON THE ICE." "Ok, will that be all?" "Yes."

Then I tried to call them again on the order button, but this time they didn't answer. A few minutes later the same kid walks out with the cherry limeade. I said, "I tried to call you but you wouldn't answer. I'm short on cash, I changed my mind."

"Well, would you like to pay by CC?"

"No, I think I'm maxed out."

    Then I drove off.

Right after that, I put a hold on my CC.

My question is can they legally charge me for canceling my order?

If they do, dispute it with your CC company.

You should also notify the regional Sonic office. Fast food companies will generally handle disputes and send you a couple of free food coupons. I have recently had order problems at Arby's and Wendy's that I did not discover until I was back at my office. I notified both via email (I had trouble getting in touch with the managers) and I received apologies and free food coupons (both sent coupons worth two free meals).

I seriously doubt that anyone would care enough to actually try to charge it to your CC.

They were probably pissed that you didn't drink the Piss-n-Cherry Limeade that they made for you, though

Your trippin over what $4 and change? You went out of your way and waited on hold to put a hold on your CC and then you come here and post a thread and a decent sized one at that. Damn, all that over a burger and a cherry limeade? Get over it.

What is effing hilarious is that they don't do inventory on stuff like drinks, they coulda given you one for free. Most MGR's make everything all right and put it on the house or something, that guy probably couldn't get enough for a hooker the night before. Don't worry about it, the worst they can do is ban you from the property, you always have a right to refuse payment for whatever reason.

I feel the rant. Kids and people today don't know the meaning of customer service. That dumbass that is giving lip about a drink, when they should have just gotten you another one, probably just lost future revenue. When you are in a situation like that, the person working needs to throw the ego out the window and just take care of the situation, no questions asked. That isn't an unresonable complaint and it should have been taken care of. Dumbass kids these days just don't get it.

I get really angry about these types of situations, its NOT the money, its the principle of the thing. like when i buy a 7 dollar meal at a restaurant with my debit and get charged 9 even though i left a cash tip.

    screw those people

You probably wasted the same dollar amount of the drink in gas by just waiting there.

    Nice one.

The dangers of an iced beverage should not be taken lightly. In some cases, It can cause an extreme case of bronchospasm. so i can understand v3.0.
What Sonics attempted to do to v3 was clearly unethical.

Next time, walk into that booth with a bat.

    eh, what can I say,

except that it was a rental car and the gas will be expensed, and so will the meal.

it's not going in my eulogy or something.

Lol, talk about getting worked up over nothing. C'mon man, the cherry limeade costs like $1.49 and it seems to have ruined your day over it. Serenity Now!
