Ive been on clutch fans crazily making sure the trades that went through were good.

Now I've been a long time rockets fan and was wondering how does waiving somebody work? This is the main focus of my trade. Do we save money in doing so? Can we waive Jefferies? (is that how you spell it? I'm on my phone at work since we have blocks on the computers).

I mean honestly I love scola but he's just not scolandry, should we pursue bosh and Stat this summer?

Ps bye tmac good luck, bye carl we'll miss you greatly?

Saw on NBAtv that Houston could do a Kenny Thomas for Jermaine Taylor and Jared Jefferies swap.

Anyone can be waived at anytime, but contracts are guaranteed. So even if we waived Jeffries we would still have to pay him all of the money and it would still count against our cap. So there's no point to it.

Jeffries might actually be useful as a trading chip next year at the deadline, though unfortunately we have to pay him this year and have him count against the cap until then.

    Exactly.

No point in waving the guy. He is 6'11 and an excellent defender. Quite a good weak side shot blocker too and really brings us something that we're missing at the 4 spot in that regard.

Best part is that both he and Battier are expiring next season, and combined they equal about a max salary. So there's always some leverage come trade deadline next season if required (and with bonus picks to throw around that leverage becomes greater)

Yes that is the best answer. But I would also add Jeffries is a hard nosed player that will surprise many on this board. He is not a scorer but does the things like Hayes and Batter that can help you win. He can play 4 defensively maybe even better than Scola and Landry. Not alot to brag about but that's still an asset we may need this year.

Agree, a heavy dose of the Chuckster and a few minutes of Jeffries checking LaMarcus Aldridge could really help in wearing the guy down.

Yes I think we might have a better shot at Bosh now than before the trade. If Bosh wants Houston than we can give a combiantion of Battier Brooks a resigned Scola, Jeffries plus 1st round picks. We have assets that Toronto might want.

Why wave Jeffries? He is a great tweener defender, just overpaid. We might as well use him, since if we waive him, we still have to pay him.

Wow you read my mind. Morey has shown interests in Bosh. The problem is, Bosh isn't available until the offseason (possibly as a sign-and-trade). The picks we got from NY + expiring contract of Jefferies + Sign-and-trade or Scola and addition of other assets could net us Bosh.

Any time left for Morey to pull Amare out of a hat?

You must be new to this. Some details on deals come out hours past the deadline. Know your role.
