I like the idea of Van Gundy returning back to New York and having Larry Brown coach for us. JVG is not effective, I know he is a good coach but there's just no chemistry with the players. Yes they are in good relationship but I'm talking about basketball chemistry here. He's overcoaching. He is like coaching a group of preK kids, shouting at them all the time, repeating the same gesture, telling them to speed up to bring the ball down. That's the reason why the players are not paying attetion to him. Say what you mean, mean waht you say!!! If you can't enforce that to your team.. that's big trouble. Trade Gundy!
ha ha ,.... I've been thinking this for one month..... I was jut hoping newyork keeps their losing strike....
why get Larry Brown? So he can't completly overhaul our roster after complianing about it for a month to the media, underminding all his players and complaining about management (in that sudle way that only he does)? Oh yeah, and then when he does a good job, maybe gets us to the finals, he will be talking about this other job he is interviewing for the whole time, just to leave us after the season..... how many different gigs has he had? No thanks, if JVG were to be fired (and by the way, I don't see that happening) I'd rather have a young coach come in (ala Marrio Elie or Scott Brooks anyone....just some names) rather than a high priced vet. Besides, Detriot seems to be doing just fine without LB. I read a quote from Ben Wallace durring the pre-season from the Milwauke Journal Sentinal when they played the Buck: "Yeah, I love having Flip as a coach. He's great for the offense. Now I just don't stand around and do nothing, I'm actually involved." And you think the offense is bad now......
Deja Vu all over again?? I thought we all learned this lesson last year. These fire van gundy threads are awesome...
Exactly. van Gundy is not a bad coach - he's a damn good coach. Whether or not he'll win this year, I don't know, but I'm willing to wait and give this team and their coach a chance to pull out of this slump. In the meantime, we should ask coolweather to call R0ckets03 up and ask if he's finished digesting that crow - those were some HUGE PORTIONS R03 ate last season.
He may be a good coach for other team, but not for the rockets. If he can't motivate his players to play energetically, then that shows no chemistry. It's just a basic point that you guys are denying. There's no lesson to learn last year except that JVG got outsmarted by a rookie coach during the game 7 against the freaking mavz in terms of game strategy.
Ask Steve Francis about "undermine his players." Ask the Knicks about "sudle (sic) complaining about management." As to "maybe he gets to the Finals," Larry Brown has a ring. What is the best Mr. Van Gundy has ever done as a head coach, and how many times has he gotten there?
