Seriously, cartel violence, kidnappings, drugs, SWINE FLU we have pretty large home security threat here. More so than the middle east IMO and that is a SF war anyways not a "send more guys" mission.
Don't lock em out, just annex Mexico and be done with it......our national soccer team would be better, so many beautiful senoritas to look at, and all that wonderful coastline, not to mention an oil supply. Your "O" is wrong, and at least three of the issues you mentioned have economic and diplomatic solutions that we're too lazy, selfish, xenophobic or downright unimaginative to implement. But I do accept that border-state citizens deserve a clearer and more consistent immigration policy.

You strike me as really liberal and most far left liberals are of the mind that we are all equal and everyone should have the same opportunity to get here regardless of legality of their residence. I could be wrong, but I am interested to know if that is how you view the world.
Yeah I am more or less for one world. Certainly all humans have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Often times international borders and immigration laws contribute to enormous immorality, including long staning borders like the one we have with Mexico. Mexicans have a God given right to cross if they need to get out of extreme poverty IMHO. However it is very cool that Mexico is so different in wonderful ways from the US which has its good points also. This is one reason why I think frequently of becoming a Mexican citizen through my wife whose father was Mexican.

I've actually changed my mind about the border and I'm okay with a fence (provided it doesn't cost too much). I don't like our immigration policies, but they probably shouldn't be undercut by poor enforcement.
