Has anybody seen the way collison has been playing lately? I mean the man had 20 assists last night. I know he's a turnover machine. But the guy is a rookie. And I mean they can save up a ton of money by trading cp3. But then again who would your rather have cb4 or cp3?
He's a ballhog, not that AB isn't one but I don't know if he's the right type of PG we need in our system.
You... don't want CHRIS PAUL? Remember that the next time you see Aaron Brooks dribbling at the top of the key with 13 seconds left in the game.
Paul is the prototypical PG so he will need to be a ballhog to setup his teammates in ideal scenarios to score. Paul avgs 11.2 APG Brooks avgs 5.2 APG Now I agree that the system will be an issue because Adelman has NEVER had a true PG on any of his teams even when Porter was avging 10 apg he was more shoot first then a Paul type.
Asked and answered in previous threads of this nature. IMO no, most of the free agent class is going to stay at their respective teams. The notion of switching teams for a ring is all but dead in this league. Players rarely take a pay cut (like Barkley did). Heck, look at Trevor Ariza to Houston. Trevor could have easily picked up another ring in LA, but here he gets more playing time and is a critical piece of the team. In LA he was a back up, and only played if he was hot. Players want to go to a team they can make good money with and maximize their playing time, not win rings. CP3 to Houston would help Houston take on the big bad lakers, but ultimately that's not what CP3 is about. Cp3 is about cp3. That's it.
If you get a chance to trade for the best point guard in the game you do it. No questions asked. Already this season we've seen him hit multiple game winners. The guy is clutch and we really need some clutch players. I am not sure we should still call ourselves clutch city the way we throw up bricks in the fourth quarter.
i wouldnt say it's dead all over...it applies mostly to stars and up and coming players. Older guys or those stuck in a certain role are consistently demanding trades or signing with teams just because they are contenders. Stars now just complain and demand other players are brough to them and the team
I so badly want to. I mean look at NOLA they're done, they're gonna have to rebuild, collison is a good place to start. CP3 might be able to be pried loose as he's getting older, a little less durable and on a losing team. His basketball IQ is amazing however and his ability to inflate his teamate's numbers are greater than Nashes. Yao would benefit, Bosh/Stoudemire would benefit and so would Ariza and Martin
I guess I'd have to agree with you there. Honestly, everytime this issue comes up I recall Jason Kidd being on the fence about joining the San Antonio Spurs. At the time he was with the Nets, and that Spurs team just looked like dynamite. Unlike RJ, I think Kidd would have liked the offense and defense of that team too. In the end (as we all know) he stayed with the mediocre Nets because of the money and the fact he was a focal point of their offense (neither of which would be guaranteed on a SA roster). Maybe this anecdote makes me have a bias, but I just feel like a Dwade/Bosh/LeBron caliber combo (maybe not those exact players, but a team of equivalent strength), as awesome as it would be, will never ever happen in my lifetime. Heck, the Kobe/Pau combo only happened because Memphis gifted LA Gasol. Even the Kobe/Shaq combo took a lot of luck, and it didn't pan out for too long. The only way I see a team replicating a Kobe/Pau, or Kobe/Shaq trade (aside from major luck) is by smart draft choices and a good coaching staff. Free Agency isn't what it once was.
CP3 in a heartbeat. DM could keep Yao and Scola, and offer NOLA whoever they want in the rest of the Rockets' roster, plus any of the first round picks.
How exactly are we going to get Bosh/Stoudemire AND Chris Paul? We won't have any players left on our team
I was being sarcastic. The word ball stopper and fit within the offense are used way too much. If you can get a top 5 player you do it even if it means firing your coach gm or whatever.
I think Collison had 16 pts 20 assists last night. So yea, I'm pretty sure Paul is available for the right price.
