This probably isn't worth a thread, but then again there's been a lot of threads like that before.

Honestly, if there really was some friction between Tracy and James, would they converse like this. They don't seem to have a problem at all.

Face it, it was a basketball/business decision that moved James for Alston. This Mcgrady shipped James out nonsense is truly moronic, and I'd consider it debunked.

Here is the whole article. LOL, it is a funny read.

I love T-Mac, he is such a humble guy.

    Rockets Summary

    Taking notice
With the NBA buzzing about Kobe Bryant's 81 points on Sunday, Rockets forward Tracy McGrady was at first speechless and then could not say enough about what Bryant did.

"I'm still in awe of what that kid did," said McGrady, whose 62 points against the Wizards in 2004 had been tied with Bryant's 62 against the Mavericks for the most in a game by a current NBA player. "It was just a hell of a performance for him to shoot the ball only 46 times to score 81 points. But not just to be able to shoot it 46 times, but to shoot it 46 times and hit well over 50 percent. There are nights I'm in the 30s of shots taken and I've been fatigued. To take 46 and 20 free throws and end up with 81 points, I didn't believe it.

"We were on the bus and Luther ( Head) yelled out, 'Kobe's got 70-something and there's four minutes left.' I said, 'Luther, stop lying.' I hurried up and got my key and went to my room and called one of my boys to put on the game and Kobe was at the free throw line with 79 points. I said, 'Are you serious?' I don't think I could score that many in a video game."

McGrady said he was amazed at Bryant's stamina and the Raptors' lack of adjustments.

"I talked to Mike ( James) after the game," McGrady said. "He said they didn't double team him — not one time. You would think after he hit 40, send two or three guys at him. When he hit 50? When he got 70? What are you doing: playing him one-on-one?"

    More on No. 8
Bucks players were also talking about Kobe Bryant.

"I just couldn't believe the Toronto team let him get 81," said Bobby Simmons, usually assigned to defend Bryant. "He would not get 81 on me, no way. And I wouldn't let my teammates get away with that. For one guy to score that many points, I think the coach should have made a change. You have to get the ball out of his hands."

The funny thing is that from now on, defenders who holdKobe to 45 points are considered doing a "great job" :)

I remember the last time the Rox were in Toronto, the game in which JH was ejected, T-Mac went over to MJ after the game and hugged him. I thought to myself, if it was anybody that had MJ traded it was Juwan. ;)

I thought the same thing as MJ and Simmons when Kobe scored 81, why didn't they double him and that this would never happen with JVG coaching. Great performance by Kobe but Sam Mitchell deserves half the credit.

not to take away anything from what kobe did, but bobby simmons is totally right, toronto should have never let him do that to them. van gundy would have personally broken kobe's leg if he ever got over 60 on one of his defenses. kobe was almost shooting by himself out there.

That or attached himself to Kobe's leg until he was able to gnaw it off.

Its interesting that they didn't ever try and double Kobe.

Sam Mitchell should be fired for that (ok not really ...but it was a close game and Kobe killed them).

I know that, they were boys, but the original poster in this thread was attempting to once and for all put an end to this BS about "Oh, McGrady just didn't like MJ so he had him shipped".

    That's the whole point.

On the Bryant front, I guess me and T-Mac are in agreement on this...the one thing I marveled at the most was not the fact that he scored 81 points, but at Bryant's stamina to be able to put up that many shots and shoot that many FTs and still keep it going through the game...THAT'S amazing, it just speaks of how great a shape that guy is in, I don't think any NBA player can approach that, except may be Lebron.

I know, when I read that I was like, huh, the guys been torching you and his team mates couldn't hit a pregnant cow, why not get the ball out of Kobe's hands? If I were Sam Mitchell, I wouldn't go back to Toronto, I just go back to LA, they should erect a statue to him

Well, let's face it. How else could a guy like Sam Mitchell get into the history books. :D

I mean, it has to be humiliating enough for a franchise to have a guy go off for the 2nd most points in NBA history. I could understand if the game was clearly out of hand, but it was a close game. Wasn't it a 5 point game when Kobe had close to 70?

Dumb ass. You wonder if players will lose respect for Mitchell.

From what I saw. They double teamed him AND tried to deny him the ball. Even their coach said that in their other article.

Not sure what Mike James is talking about.

Here is the quote from Mitchell, taken from the article posted in the other thread:

The thing about him that is most amazing is that he is relentless," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. "We played man-to-man, box-in-one and zone. We tried to put smaller guys on him to deny him the ball.

I don't know guys...the highlights I saw of Kobe he was almost always in single coverage, except for one baseline jumper over two defenders late in the game (when he was nearing 80 points already).

I think they only tried to double him very late in the game when the damage was done. I am sure I will get a better gauge of what happened when I see the game again, but the highlights on ESPN showed him being defended by one guy.
