Can we keep this team together?

FIVE years? Let's see what February brings. Then the summer. Trader Rudy has nothing on trader posters, but he is close.

 

i've been wondering the same thing lately, glad someone brought it up. i've been checking the contract length's over at Realgm (BTW, don't go to Realgm without a pop-up ad blocker......no offence, i understand the reasons (money) but geeshz,...it truely is like that guy playing a shooting game on his computor....only to see that he is exhausted from closing pop-up ads just to get to see his site.) Cato's contract should be nearing an end about the time Yao's is up, Rice's contract comes off after next year & genrally speaking with the overall increases in the Cap from year to year....we should be able to keep everybody assuming that underachiever's will take less to re-up with us ( Cato/MoTay/Moochie) underacheiver is a strong word, so maybe what i mean is that role player's should be reasonable and take reasonable contracts for the current market rates. which in a few years will still probably be high for our standards.
if we lose somebody it might be Mo Taylor or Cuttino to a higher bidder, maybe Moochie, but those positions would easy to replace.

 

No we wont, because 'Les' being an outstanding Business man wants a Championship Team in his new Arena! In a lot less than 5 years there will be major changes on this squad. Point Guard, back up Point Guard, Small Forward, Power Forward. I would not be surprised to find that the following players could be on another team next year---- Mobley,Moochie Norris, Rice, Mo T, Ed Griffin and Collier. I would want a starting five of------- PG- Mr X. SG- Franchise,SF-Odom, PF- Brand,C-YM. I think(C) Cato,(SF)Morris,(SG)Posey and Nachbar will still be here!

 

In another five years I beleive that Francis (PG)and Mobley(SG) will be the only two starters/ players left. By then I think we might have Brad Miller for our Center; the Rockets have always liked his game. Lamar Odom as our SF (hopefully) and Mr. X as our power forward(as long as he average 15 and 10 I really don't care). Yao,Griffin,MOT, Moochie,Cato,Posey,and who ever else I just don't see them with the Rockets in another five years.

I would like to keep this team pretty much intact with a few changes, but I know that is not going to happen.

 

with all due respect Yetti, what your asking for is impossible. no team can afford 4 max players on one team. SF is already a max player, AM is gonna want the max & EB too. i know Yao is just a rookie, but at the end of his contract guess what. i don't think that senerio is even realisticly concievable. we might could land one but not both. wait a minute, you said Odom too right, huh? i'm confused......doesn't matter, same difference,....no way we could take on so much salary and keep Yao & Steve. math doesn't work.

i'm sure you understand what i mean reguardless. i'm a big fan of Elton Brand too and would love to have him on the Rockets. i just don't see how it could happen. unless EG doesn't work out, but even then i doubt we could trade EB straight up for EG. Griffin's trade value would be down at that point.

 

Unless Yao turns out to be a complete bust or is absolutely determined to get out of Houston, I say that out of our current players, Yao is the one who is most likely to stay. There is no way that Les will allow Yao to get away, especially with all of the publicity that Yao brings.

Yao and Steve are the two players that are the most likely to stay. The rest of them, who knows. I also don't think that Cat will be around. Eventually when Rudy pulls his head out of his ass, he will realize that having two ballhogs (Steve and Cat) on the same team is not a good thing so if one of them has to go, its got to be Cat. Just like the Lakers, the Rockets just need 2 superstars and everyone else can just be above average role players.
