This is from bsktball.com so I don't know if it is reliable....

ATLANTA- In Atlanta to big topic is Theo "I need a band aid" Ratliff. To say Atlanta is disappointed in their end of the Theo Ratliff deal is not a stretch, they remain hopeful Ratliff can get and stay healthy. Talk continues if the right trade were presented Theo might get packed out with a big contract. Early in the season it was said Portland and Atlanta has light discussions about a Dale Davis/Theo Ratliff deal but details could not get worked out. Expect ideas like to re-surface especially if Ratliff can get back to his All-Star form long enough for Atlanta to deal him.

    How about this trade???

Atlanta trades: Theo Ratliff $8,593,750 to Houston
Atlanta trades: Jacque Vaughn $590,850 to Houston
    TOTAL: $9,184,600

Houston trades: Moochie Norris $3,600,000 to Atlanta
Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Atlanta
    TOTAL: $9,648,000

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Atlanta needs a playmaker point guard and a healthy center.

We need a real inside presence and a scoring backup point guard....

I would do the deal just because we are dead this year anyway and since Ratliff and Francis are out about the same amount of time, we could build for next year now...

Not a bad idea, but we might have to offer next years #1 as well to get it done. And then things get interesting, because we would not have our own picks for 2 years (is this legal?) and the pick could up being really good.

We could give them the number one pick we got for the Dream and a lottery protected pick...

Cato's perpetually on the IL too. Why would they want to trade an All-Star who can't stay healthy for an All-Potential who can't stay healthy?

Atlanta would be straight up insane to do this deal. Not only do they get Cato, but they also get an overpriced back-up quality point guard.

Throw in Kenny Thomas and a pick and Atlanta might like it.

Moochie, Cato and Kenny for Vaughn or Davis and Ratliff or Mohammed.

    Would they do that?

We'll take any combination of the 4 players.

But I think Dale Davis for Ratliff makes too much sense to not happen.

No one is going to do the Rockets any favors. Thats the problem I have with this team is that we have nothing anyone wants, a lack of talent. The only players someone else wants are Francis, Mobley, and Griffin. You might be able to include Thomas into that equation, but other than that, thats about it. We're stuck right now, but maybe Rudy and co. can pull the wool over someones eyes like the agents did theirs this summer.
