He is exactly the type of SF we need, tough and can rebound. What do we have that GS would consider taking? KT + #5 pick? Would that be enough? DaDakota
ewww. you dont want jamison. he makes the max. is he worth it? i bet the warriors would jump all over that deal if it worked cap wise, which i doubt.
Why would we want Jamison? He is really a 4 isnt he? Plus I would not give up our fifth pick and KT for him.
Wouldn't be a good fit IMO. Jamison is a 4. The only reason he's playing the 3 is because GSW needs to get Fortson on the floor somehow. If we are going to pay someone the max, I'd rather it be Rashard in a S&T.
Reasons this is a bad idea: 1. Jamison isn't really a SF. He's a PF. We have 3 of those. 2. Jamison makes the max. 3. Jamison doesn't even know what the word defense means, and he's even farther away from actually doing this mysterious "defense" thing. He gets beaten like a red-headed stepchild trying to stay in front of top small-forwards. 4. For the fifth pick we could draft a real SF who has a doctorate in defense: Caron Butler. 5. The Warriors wouldn't even want KT anyway. The reason Jamison had an off year was because they had to use him at SF (since there's no way Fortson could play the 3). They also have Troy Murphy sitting on the bench, and that's a guy who deserves minutes. They would like to trade Fortson or Jamison and get value back, but the only thing they don't want is another PF.
Gary St. Jean would jump all over that deal he would even throw in Fortson. That is a horrible trade. Drexlerfan22 hit the nail on the head and the only thing I can add to that is that Jamison has been known to whine to management about various things. I have heard this various times here in the Bay Area, but then again you can't always believe what you hear. This is how I would do the trade: Rice+Taylor+#5 for Jamison and their 1st rounders. Jamison is a huge liability on defense and frankly it would better suit the Rockets if they just avoided him at all costs. If we ain't getting the better end of the deal I don't want to make the trade. I think this team has a better chance at becoming good without 'Twan than with.
I got all excited about this post, until I saw it was about Antwan Jamison, not Jenna Jamison. That's real sad.
I can't believe that you guys watch him play. He is a SF, that has PF post moves. He averages over 20ppg and rebounds well, and is an adequate defender, and is only 25 years old. I would kill to have him teamed up with Cat and Francis....we would have another 3 headed monster.....so many scorers you could not guard them all...heck add Mo T in there and you have 4 solid scoring options and Cato to clean the glass. I like that....A LOT !! DaDakota
Jamison wouldn't be a good fit for our time. I experimented with Jamison on my NBA2k2 game on XBOX. He didn't do that well. Therefore, from this experiment, I do not think he would be a good fit for our team.
The only way Cato can clean the glass is, if you give him a bottle of Windex & a roll of paper towels.
Jesus, he must've averaged 10 rebounds a game after the break and you guys are STILL doggin' him? Jeez. Next thing you know we won't go after Duncan because he doesn't make facial expressions.
The Rockets need a shooter, not a scorer. Jamison is not a shooter. Ergo, the Rockets do not need Jamison. I do like him at the 4... but we already have a problem there with a log jam.
how could you guys not see he is a post player that what rudy offense is at its best doesnt matter if he can shoot francis mobley they can take the jumpers now you have a post player we need and finally the offense will change look at charlotte its a similar team
I know Jamison has had problems with defending 3's but how does he match up on defense against 4's like Malone, Webber and Wallace?
I'd like to hear from Sideshow Swopa....errrr...I'd like to hear from Swopa on this trade, and on these players. Seriously, would you do this, Swopa?
Since you asked. Cato averaged over the 30 games after the All Star break: 24.37 MPG (down from 25.17 MPG prior to the All Star game) 5.93 PPG (down from 7.17 PPG prior to the All Star game) 7.57 RPG (up from 6.56 RPG prior to the All Star game) 1.50 BPG (up from 1.11 BPG prior to the All Star game) He did improve on his blocks & rebounds, but on a team that is sorely lacking in front line rebounding & defense, wouldn't it stand to reason that his numbers should be much better than that? He was tied for the year in rebounding by our PG & out rebounded by an undersized PF in KT. He was even beaten out in blocks per game by a rookie with one year of college. Oh yeah, one other thing, he shot 58% from the free throw line. Here's a comparison that'll make you want to throw up. If you extrapolate the numbers for the year to 48 MPG, you get these numbers: CATO 48 MPG 12.3 PPG 13.1 RPG 2.38 BPG OSTERTAG 48 MPG 10.6 PPG 13.6 RPG 4.73 BPG The last time I checked, most people that you ask, consider Ostertag to be a slug & yet, with the exception of scoring average, he out performed Cato in 2 key areas for a center, rebounds & blocks. Until Cato decides to add a mid-range jumper or a hook shot to his offensive repertoire & come to play every game, he's going to be a career backup & nothing more. Of course, that's just my opinion.
