Getting our asses handed to us for the first 12 minutes forces us to lose a 48 min game once again.

Why do we come out so flat?

I guess it just hasn't sunk in that effort needs to be constant for all 48 minutes, not the final 12. I have to partially blame Rudy for not properly conveying this message to the players. I also blame Steve for not setting a tone right from the start.

Absolutely NO EFFORT ON DEFENSE IN THE FIRST QUARTER. They didn't even bother to wave as Spurs went by them on their way to the basket. When will this group learn about "bringing it" without depending on the coach to ream them a new one for lack of effort? They actually made a nice comeback but simply dug themselves in too deep a hole to win on the road.

Lack of talent is one thing. LACK OF EFFORT IS INEXCUSABLE:confused:

Guess that's what maturing is all about. Boy could we use a Charles Oakley type to kick ass!

And that is exactly why this team can not be allowed to tank. Teaching the Rockets to lose games would only set back their development in the effort department, and that is going slowly enough.

Agreed. The effort in the 1st quarter was miserable.

KT spend most of his energy trying to strip Duncan, as opposed to denying him position 1 ft away from the basket.

Francis was dribbling and forcing bad shots.

Our best 1st quarter player has been hurt year. Ya we need Mo Taylor just for his 10 1st quarter points. From there Cat and Steve can take over.

The Spurs have had our number in recent years. We REALLY dont match up well with them at all.

That is a good point. I'm not a big Mo fan, but at the very least he gave the Rockets an early boost.

This is the reason watching Rocket games is usually a painful experience. I mean I stil watch em, but I hate catch-up basketball.

And yes we need FIRST QUARTER MO!
