Lately, there's been some talk, ok, there's been alot of talk about possibly trading our pick to the Clipps and Bulls. I've mainly stayed out of all the arguements, info leakage, and ruckus. Although I did come up with a possible trade scenario ,but don't know if it would be allowed in the CBA rules. First, Houston drafts Ming and sends him to Chicago Chicago drafts J. Will and sends him to Houston along with E. Curry. Houston may add a filler (Collier, K. Thomas) to make the numbers work and/or void the Bryce Drew obligation. Second, Houston sends J. Will to the Clipps (Norris as filler if needed) L.A. Clipps send Odom and #8 & #12 I know some of you will say "what about Kandi" For one, he's a FA, Brand also said publicly that if Kandi isn't resigned, then he won't either next year. Also, Kandi is going to want a FAT contract and all we could (and should) offer is the 4.5 exception. My question is can we trade a player who was just traded to us(J. Will.)? This would be the ideal scenario IMO, seeing that we get the most for our 1st pick. 5-Cato, Curry, Marcus (8) 4-Taylor, Griffin, Nene (12) 3-Odom, Rice, Morris 2-Cat, Jacobson (15) 1-Francis, Dixon (38) Rudy could package some of the picks to grab one of his favs.
to answer the thread title: i dont think we want to. it is a very clever and well thought out trade, but im not sure the rockets are willing to give up ming.
All the "insiders" are pointing towards a trade, and I tend to think they're right seeing all the strings that will be attached to Ming. Krause really wants Ming and might make that trade offer closer to the draft. This trade would would satisfy our 3(Odom) and 5(Curry) needs and add some first rounders to sweeten it. I just don't know if we could trade a PICK that was just traded to us. Any CBA pros out there who can answer this for me?
Why wouldn't it as a draft day announcement like we did with Eddie Griffin last year. "I have a trade announcment. Houston sends the number one selection in exchange for #2 and Eddy Curry. Then we pick Williams at #2. At number 8 Stern says the Clippers exchange their #8 and #12 and send Odom to Houston in exchange for Jay Williams. Then we pick at 8 and 12. I don't see the problem -- except that we lose Ming.
I'm satisfied taking Ming.... BUT we also need more quality depth. If we could pick up Curry and Odom and get picks 8 and 12.... THAT WOULD BE SWEET 1: Francis/Mooch/Brown 2: Cat/Torres 3: Odom/Rice/TMo/Langhi 4: MoT/Griff/KT 5. Cato/Curry/Collier Plus picks 8 and 12 I don't think we'll see Langhi back for sure. Collier is really on the bubble if we pick up someone like Curry and a power 8/12 player. Mooch and KT should be trade bait. Neither is ideal because of their contract situations: Mooch overvalued and KT undervalued under the CBA. Should be a gut wrenching six weeks! My favorite time of year.
