I admit it,..I kinda stopped watching...but then I've been hearing from Mike & Mike, they believe the Astros can catch the Cards at the end...I didn't know to laugh or be happy...Now lo and behold, I see we are just 4 games back...Of course, the Reds, and Brewers need to get jackslapped on the way to the top... Can we do it, since we are this close?...
welcome back. of course we can. someday houston fans will learn that the baseball season is really long. you would have thought they'd gotten that message last season...or the season before that. apparently not.
yea definately! The cards dont have the invicible auro around them this year....their team is injury riddled and just not as strong as they use to be. The astros always turn it around in the 2nd half and im feeling a big addition to our team thats going to help our run.
havent you people on this board learned anything? we are a second half team, and i am confident we will at least get the wild card and maybe the division if we trade for a bat.
screw the wild card...i think this is our year to win the division. this division is super-soft right now.
Sure we can. As fans, it's hard for us to remember that, even as "bad" as the Astros have been this season, they're still playing .500 ball. That's not great, but that's better than a lot of teams. And we're aligning things to make a strong run in the second half of the season. I believe.
i think roger clemens is/was so taken for granted here this season. we added him and there was some initial excitement...but it's almost as if people forgot we added him.
IMO we still need anther bat!! What do you think the chances are that the astros trade Pettiete.. I dont want this to happen but a couple of people where talken about it at work and i want to get you guys opinions! they say since he is in the last year of his contract then it would be good to look into it, plus Backe comeing back... I say the only way i would trade Andey is if we could get someone like Tejhada (or how ever u spell it)
I think we definetely can catch St.L. I do think we'll make the playoffs either way, but winning the division would be huge. Winning the division would be the difference between playing the Mets in the division series, or playing one of those mediocre teams from the NL West. The NY Mets are a lock for the best record in the NL, and whoever wins the wildcard will have to play them in the Div Series,I'd much rather wait and see them in the LCS.
Assuming Jeff Weaver doesn't turn his season around, and Wainwright doesn't turn into a lights out starter, the Cards simply do not have the pitching to win the division. Their offense really consists of 2 hitters now and it is a lot easier to pitch around Pujols than it was in previous seasons, especially with the back problems Edmonds in having. This division is out there for the taking with 4 teams that are going to have a legit shot at winning this. NL Central head to head games are going to really be interesting the 2nd half of this season. Go Stros!
That is exactly true, it was almost as if,..."Hey ESPN is making a big deal, why so?" - kind of feeling I felt from others... It now appears to be paying off because we often forget Roger pumps everyone else up a notch...(in addition to his contribution)
