It's not practical from a business standpoint. The buyout amount would be is amortized against the cap for the remaing years of the current contract. The Rocks will pay Cato about $36m over the next 6 years. If (and it's a big IF) he would settle for half, that $18m would hit the Rockets salary cap at about $3m per year for six years. So, whomever your considering to replace him will already cost $3m before the actual contract negotiations ever begin. Like it or not, we are basically stuck with him unless we can trade him.
