call this a stupid thread if you want. i am not here to blame tmac or yao, but i really do not remember tmac has one great game playing together with yao ever since yao 'officially' became the best C. we have to be honest here, we have to do whatever it takes to make tmac tmac again. even it means ....
Couldn't you put this in another thread? & don't tell me there wasn't another one around pretty much talking about the same thing...
This actually is a valid question, and I believe the answer is "Undecided" Tmac clearly is a better player when he is free to just do as he likes, which does include scoring, driving, shooting and distrubuting. But when the focus of the offense is on Yao, he seems to really struggle with his identity. I don't think they have found the right chemistry yet......and the team is suffering from the indecision. DD
trading yao to the lakers? Its almost like some people have been waiting for tmac to have a bad game for long time. I remember Pry almost wetting his pants in the game thread as tmac continued to misfire. its 1 game, ONE game...geez
is not just one game. we can beat lakers, bulls, ... teams at that level with tmac has a stat line like 20/6/6 with 35% shooting. However, playing an elite team in the playoff mindset, we need the 'old' tmac and the 'new' yao TOGETHER.
The problem is T-mac never strikes me as a high percentage shooter, his shooting has always been inconsistent. But he's an excellent play-maker, and an incredible attacker to the basket when he feels like it. The solution: Yao shoots the ball, T-mac attacks the basket. T-mac needs to lay off whose wimpy jumpers.
good distribtution between YAO/TMAC, I beleive is: YAO takes 16-20 shot per game and TMAC should have 25-28 shots. I notice when YAO take more than 22 shots, his shooting percentage will fall.
its definitely not working. They need to rebuild next year. Trade tmac and Yao, one to boston, one to memphis. We'll have the first 2 picks in the draft, we can rebuild with oden and Durant
T-Mac plays his best with Deke like centers, a guy who doesn't demand the ball, play lockdown defense, crash the boards and provide a lot of second chance opportunities. With Yao being the focal point of the offense, T-Mac seems lose his focus on offense and always out of rhythm. They have never really meshed together. The funny thing is Rox really can't go anywhere in the playoffs if T-Mac doesn't play well. No matter how much Yao scores, he can't generate enough offense like T-Mac does. The opponents will just let Yao get his and try to lockdown the perimeter. Yao can score 30 or 40, it really doesn't matter, the game will still be close if Rox can't score from perimeter. In 4th QT, Yao will most likely slow down a bit due to fatigue, especially he need to play 40+ mins in the playoffs (his stamina is still not first class). If T-Mac can't take over, teams like Jazz have a great chance to beat them. It is just that simple.
actually i think that's Jazz' gameplan (and many other teams). Only hard double team yao with 6 minutes left in the 4th Q. We have to establish tmac early in the game. I also noticed howard not playing well if tmac not playing well. Maybe we should try start deke/howard first? Just kidding.
Tmac will never coexist with any other superstar, he wants all the attnetion on him and when he gets it he never delivers. It was so obvious who is a better player between him and Kobe in the last meeting. I do not think Tmac appreciates having Yao on his side. I bet Lebron, Garnett, Kobe, Wade, Agent 0, Chicago, Utah, Nowitzki, Nash, would love to have a player like Yao on their side. Trading Tmac or Yao has to always be an option, becasue the Duo will not produce a championship.
You can knock T-Mac for some things at times (e.g., shot selection, aggresiveness, not showing up, etc.), but the one thing you can't question is that he is a very accomodating superstar who is willing to share the limelight with another superstar (Yao). I couldn't disagree with the comment more.
I agree with you guys about T-Mac. He needs to drive more instead of taking those jumpers night in and night out that will not get him out of the slump.
