Well these still a lot of bball to be played & we are currently 3 games behind the 8th spot. The only problem is our schedual. I'm sure you guys/gals already know it's not goan be easy. Most of the teams left are teams over .500%. On top of that T-Mac's back keeps acting up & its all ways a game time decision for him. My question to you is do you think the Rox can pull some wins together and make it to the playoffs? I belive we can some how get over this injury cursed season and make the playoffs. It'll be pretty damn tuff but nothing is easy. Lets hope the Rox can prove me right! What yall think?
I really don't know, but I'm pullin for them like crazy. I believe they CAN, but will they? I sure as hell hope so. I watch old videos compiled last year during and after the season and can't help but think, last year was so special and we choked. This year was supposed to amount to so much. It could be a truly awesome story if they come back, but I know one thing: we can't do it unless T-Mac shows shades of what he was last year. Yao can help carry us to wins, but T-Mac AND Yao is what will take us "there."
I think we can do it. If we can win tonight, and win on Sunday against the Spurs then I know we will do it.
Not to sound negative, but I don't see the rockets making the playoffs with T-Mac's back and the upcoming schedule. I think if the rocket perimeter players start to shoot lights out and Yao can keep up his tremendous play, that could potentially get them in. But you got think that one of those teams ahead of the rockets is going to get hot at some point.
I've said over and over again. This team can only afford to lose 5 more games. If we lose any games more than 5, the chances of us making the playoff is near to zero. Let's not get carried away after a win or a loss, or how difficult the schedule is. We face Dallas/SA 5 more times, if we lose them all, but beat every other teams remaining on the schedule, we are in. Otherwise, we are out. It's as simple as that.
I am a little surprised as to the number of people who have a specific number of losses or wins that we need to have for us to be in the Playoffs. There is no way you can even suggest a number with certainity- atleast 5 teams are competing for the last 2 spots- anything can happen with a switch of one or two games. For example the Clippers beat San Antonio- that was not expected. The lakers beat Detroit- that was not expected. Going by historical trend absolutely makes no sense- this year there is significant uncertainity. Sure winning the 5 games starting Sunday would give us a significnat chance- but what we go and lose to some no name team bound for the lottery!
We need a record of 44-38 to make the playoffs this year? Have you looked at the current standings? You could turn out to be spot on, but I think 42-40 is a more conservative guestimate.
I voted yes and I can back it up scientifically Here is my logic: since Feb 1st this team has won 13 out of 17 games. If they keep this winning ratio, for the remaining 21 games they should win 21*(13/17) = 16 games. And that just gives you a 44-38. Can they keep this winning ratio? I can't see why not. Yes the schedule is a little tougher but you also have to factor in the emerging Yao and T-Mac is due to come out of his recent slumps. So there is a very good chance that they will make it.
I agree with you to a certain extend. However, historically speaking, 44-38 is a pretty safe record to make to the playoffs. You don't have to always worry about what the Lakers do, what the Hornets do and stuff like that, all you need is to win these games, and you are pretty safe. Of course, you might make it at 42-40, heck, teams got into the eastern playoffs with losing records in the past, all I am saying is 44-38 is a safe bet.
I've got a poll for you: Should the author of this thread use spell and grammar check before making polls? I vote yes.
We're only 3 games out. If we win tonight and the Lakers lose, 2 games out. If both teams win, still 3 games. 3 games is doable. The only problem is the difficulty of our schedule. Oh well, bring it. GO ROCKETS.
I've said it multiple times lately, and I'll say it again - I ALWAYS believe. The Rockets are making the playoffs this season and every season after that for a long, long, loooong time.
