Now that he's a retired player, is he still part of the embargo?

I mean, as much as I enjoy

on the Rockets website. It seems silly to talk about dancer auditions instead of talking about the retirement of a career-long Rocket and their most recent star player.

The Rockets should post something about it, even if they get fined 1 mil. 1 million is nothing compared to how much Yao made Les. He spends more than that on draft picks, he should pony up the money.

Now that he's retired he no longer is an NBA player. So I don't really see the problem...

He's technically still a player until the paperwork goes through, and there's a question as to whether or not the front office can even process the papers during the lockout.

    Just found this..

I guess he doesn't have to do paper work.

I don't think it's worth $1mil to say goodbye formally - besides, as mentioned there is no one to process that paperwork at the moment. He's really just in limbo right now and when the league finally processes the paperwork, they can officially make an announcement.

...so are FAs not part of the player's association? I would assume that Yao would have to leave the PA before he can be exempt from the 1mil fine.

I would guess that the Rockets could apply for an exemption in this case.

It would be silly to not let them talk about it.

Why do it now and not wait until the end of lockout. He could have just stopped his rehab and go on with life as usual.

Man I really really hope theres a comeback.

According to J. Feigen, the answer is "no." Any contact = $1 million fine.

Oh well, just look at Yao as an asset and this wouldn't sound as coldblooded as it is.

Dude...a wedding only happens once, they can't recreate it anymore.

Yao will stay retired even if the Rox don't talk to him for a couple of months.
