I mean im pretty sure yao is going to be out for the rest of the year....could the rockets be able to get the disable player exception for yao? or how does this work?
Hmm... I would wonder more at whether his contract is insured and whether the insurance will pay the remainder of his 2010-11 deal. If that is the case, he will be *extremely* attractive to a team that needs to shed cap and has cashflow problems.
We have the exception from the Ariza trade. The exceptions cannot be combined so I don't really see us needing another. We also have the expirings of Battier and Jeffries to make trades with. Les Alexander probably doesn't want to pay luxury tax for a team that at the moment isn't going to compete for a championship. Edit: And we already got one for Yao last year, which probably prevents us from getting anything. And If we got the exception, would we be even able to use it next summer as an "MLE" if we are under the cap? Will there even be exceptions after the new CBA is negotiated? Too many unknowns there..
