Nah, I doubt it. Stevie isn't as big of an assist man as Stockton was. We need Francis to score big points, unless Mo blows up on us.

Francis will never be as good a passer as Stocky, but he will be 10 times the scorer. Mo will never be anywhere near Malone in any category.

They don't need to be the next Stockton/Malone. They will be Franchise/Big Mo. How many teams can even match that combo?

    NO

Not unless steve gets some Micheal Jackson plastic Surgery and Mo gets on the roids and starts wearing gator shoes.

Plus both of them are way to nice to ever be that dirty.

Francis / Taylor the next Stockton / Malone????

I sure as hell hope NOT!

They're not nearly dirty enough and if they do then, they'll never win an NBA championship.

If the context is getting a good (but legal) pick and roll between them - absolutely.

If the context is longevity on one team (assuming Mo "delivers") - *two* thumbs up!

If it's a work (or workout) ethic - certainly.

For just about any other aspect, especially the flops and whining to the officials - I hope never!!

    Heck no [IMG]

In fact, I don't want them to become the next Stockton/Malone because as great as that duo is they play dirty. However Stockton and Malone are smart, poised players who don't make many errors on the court and I wouldn't mind if Francis and Taylor inherited that. Francis and Taylor should and hopefully will define their own, unique duo.

    Well, since you asked.....
    *Payton/Baker
    *Pippen/Wallace
    *Williams/Webber
    *Bryant/O'Neal
    *Kidd/Gugliotta
    *Stockton/Malone
    *Hughes/Jamison
    *Anderson/Duncan
    *Finley/Nowitzki
    *Van Exel/McDyess
    *Bibby/Abdur-Rahim
    *Brandon/Garnett
And then there's the Eastern conference...

Ok since you are such a smart ass why in the hell did you name Pippen and Wallace. Pippen is a 3 not a 1. You also named Shaq.
Shaq is a center not a power forward. You named Larry Hughes. Larry is a 2 not a 1.
You named Finley and Rahim. Finley is a 2 and Rahim is a 3. The question was mean't for
a point guard and a power forward not just any 2players on the team.

The next stockton/Malone? No (and I know Francis will never be that dirty, when your elite you don't have to be cheap)

Can Francis become the next great one? Definitly.....who needs a Malone/Stockton punch when you have a MJ?

Wanna be, wanna be like Steve

Highplainsdrifter, why don't you stick to the topic ? Oneal/Kobe ? Fin/nowitzki ? Anderson/Duncan ? Hughes/Jamison ? Pippen/Wallace ? All you did was name these team's best two players. Oatdog obviously meant a pg/pf combo that could develop into years of success.

Kidd/Googs ? You have to be kidding me. Baker/Payton ? I'd rather have Pippen on my team then Baker.

Either stick to the topic or go back to the Portland board. Get your head out of Pips @$$ and then start posting.

Me too, seeing as how both Payton and Kemp play for different teams now. I wouldn't bet the kids college fund that Mo Taylor will be back next year...

Actually, it's kind of interesting seeing how our Stevie/Mo combo compares to the other frontcourt/backcourt combos around the league. At this point, it's difficult to definitively say that Stevie/Mo will be any better than Marbury and Van Horn or Van Exel and McDyess are. I just hope Mo's work ethic is closer to that of Karl Malone than the other supposed second comings like Derek Coleman, Vin Baker, and Shawn Kemp. At least we finally have a guy we can talk about in the same breath as these other frontcourt stars to pair with Francis.

I guess the beautiful thing is that we have the rest of our deadly backcourt to go along with whatever pairing Francis and Taylor strike up!

I guess if they're as good as Payton/Baker then we're looking pretty good to make the playoffs and more. (imagine adding Cato/Anderson/Mobley/Williams and Dream to Payton and Baker)

Man, some of you guys are mean and now my feelings are hurt. [IMG]

All I was listing were inside/outside combos as good or better than Francis/Taylor.
I didn't know that they had to be PG/PF.

Payton/Baker not as good as Francis/Taylor?
Say what you want about Baker, but when comparing him to other 2nd tier PFs like Taylor, he still looks pretty good. And last time I checked GP was the best PG in the league. And I am definitely NOT a Sonics fan and I have no ill feelings toward the Rockets either....
