I was dumbfounded when I looked online last week. Some dumbass stated the Oceanaire. That place was an absolute joke. Here's a clue: 3 oysters for 6 dollars is never a good deal. The idiot I was with poured lemon wedges over all six to the point where all I tasted was lemon; and of course she didn't have any. I know she thought she was being polite, but she was really being a moron, in my eyes. What part about "maybe a hair, don't overdo it" equals pouring half a lemon on 6 oysters, all the size of a marble.

I hate her, and I hate this restaurant. Thumbs down!

Where, oh where can I get a dozen oysters for under $10? I'm doing a Robb Walsh cooking class in the next couple weeks, so at least I can give y'all the answer if nobody knows currently.

Ragin Cajun has HH oysters. dozen for $5. May not be the best, but it's decent.

Haven't been to Danton's but I heard they're pretty good too.

FFB, where have you been? I've avoided oysters all winter (trying to eat better) but Pappa's SW Freeway has specials throughout the season for $3.95 per dozen. I haven't been by this winter, but I imagine they still do it. The guy(s) that shuck them know exactly what they are doing and leave the salt water in the shell.

You must really be creamed tonight. I don't see how a legit oyster lover can't know the best spots to get them. Cap Benny's in Stafford is another option when Pappas doesn't run the special.

Don't get oysters at Pappas near Gulfgate. I'll just leave it at that.

I was going to suggest Papadeaux as well. $3.95 for a dozen is a pretty good deal.

Edit: More of an FYI than a good deal. Sam's Boat has $.50 oysters every day from 3-7.

Does Pappadeaux in Sugarland do that also? Didn't know that. It's actually closer to my house.

I think the Pappas in Sharpstown has more specials on oysters, shrimp and boiled crawfish than any of the Pappas-branded restaurants in town.

Not really sure to tell you the truth, I've never been to that one. It couldn't hurt to give them a call and find out. The closer you are to home, the more you can drink! This is happy hour we're talking about, right? ;)

At the foodways texas event at the Armadillo Palace a few months ago . . . Levi Goode served up some amazing grilled (on the half shel) oysters . . . don't think they are regularly on the menu, but worth asking for . . .

i was about to suggest this place, been going there for past 4 years. Downside is that it can get crowded on weekends but that just goes to show how much demand they have for their services.

the oysters are priced under 5 a dozen if i am not mistaken all day no need for happy hour

Good suggestions. Just tried this place out a few days ago and absolutely loved it. $6.00 for a dozen. Ate about 3 dozen when I went.

I think its cheaper for happy hour. And these were nice sized oysters.

    Absolutely recommended!

I second Rajun Cajun, I love this play but will usually say they are overpriced except the oysters at happy hour
