One thing to consider is....who will be on the team after the end of the season. Will certian players retire? Doesn't answer your question, because I don't know the numbers. But that is a factor.

    brahma...

that's like asking, "Do we or do we not have enough roster space for Hakeem to come off IR?"

The answer is: Right now. No! We are at or over our limit on cap and roster space.

You question should be: what are our options to free up cap space?

We can do some clever CBA manipulation using trades and player renouncements to free up more. The Rockets may not do it, but I guarantee other teams will. Many teams start a season above the cap, yet start the free agent season below. I'm not throwing out numbers this time; I've done it plenty of times in the past.

So, what good quality player are you after?

We may wanna go after Ron Mercer, he would be a nice pickup at SG. Not sure how we would configurate our roster after this acquisition though.

Are ya'll sure? I know we can't go after a major superstar, but shouldn't we be in a decent position to get some good role players?

I like the Ron Mercer idea, but I have a feeling he likes it in Denver.

I dont like the idea of getting Mercer.I think he is one of these players who just plays for his pay cheak.

I know what your thinking "Thats would include every player in the NBA!"
What I mean is look at Kevin Garnett vs Juan Howard. You can see KG wants to win.But Howard just want his money. He dosent care if he,or his team sux just as long as he get the $$$.

Id prefere to get someone who wants to win and get better.

    Regards
    Christopher

Good point Christopher, but if that's the case then the Rockets should go after Isaiah Rider. Sure he misses flights and things, but the guy honestly wants to win. He wants to win BAD and its not going to happen in Atlanta...he know that.

I know, its s long strech, but just my opinion.

Mercer - overrated plain and simple

Rider - possibly most talented 2 guard in the game. Needs to be in a winning situation to not cause problems. Portland was it, then they traded him and the whole act came back. Would much rather have him than Mercer.

i believe we if we get a Martin or Morris in the draft and then go after Mason or someebody we should have a much better nucleus.

    Also say bye to Walt.

I think getting Mason would be great for this team.
    C:Olajuwon
    PF:Mason
    SF:Who ever we draft*
    SG:Anderson
    PG:Francis

*(Im not up to speed on the the college players but from reading the BBS it seems the Rockets will be going fo a SF.)

Looking at that lineup is great. Its a good defencive lineup. Also when you think we'd have Cato,Rogers,Mobley on the bench.....Man that would be a good team [IMG]

As for getting Rider the guy could be a great pickup due to his small salary and he can ,on any given night, light it up as good as anybody.
BUT do you want his down side.I know personaly if I was Rudy T I wouldnt want him around.Sure he'll go off for a 30pt game every few night BUT he also goes off his nut too often.

We need a player who can score, but not that badly [IMG]
