Can someone explain Texans cap situation to me?

    I know very little on how the NFL cap really works...

    How do the Texans fare with cap space currently and in the near future?

    zero flexibility right now.

    next season should be a different story when Cushing, JJo, and AJ are cut. Plus Schaub's dead money comes off the books.

    Since this is the first year of Cushing's new contract there will be too much dead money if Cushing gets cut next year so we'll see him back for at least one more season.

    AJ and Myers getting cut with a JJ restructure could be the plan

    This is a misconception.

    Also, I doubt they restructure JJo's deal as it simply pushes dead money down the line. It's best to get it off the books once and for all.
