Can someone explain how Gary Clark's contract works?

How long can we have him locked up on a cheap contract? He's a keeper. He should get minutes over Ennis and also over Melo.

Ennis should not be in the main rotation, really.

He’s literally been the only positive about this season.

It's not crazy to say he deserves the starter SF spot. He's turning into a PJ Tucker lite.

He's "locked up" for the year, but he can only be with the team for 45 days (starting Nov 3rd) -- under 2-way contract rules. But when he reaches the 45 days, we can convert back to the full NBA contract (if we have a roster spot available), even negotiating a new contract (assuming he signs), and lock him up for 3yrs if we dip into the MLE (which Morey prefers, to avoid poison pills, later).

Here's Bima explaining negotiating -- during this year -- a new 3yr deal with the MLE...like we did with Isaiah, and were going to do with Melton.

I'm all for locking Clark up with part of the MLE. Do it when you can, Daryl. PLEASE!!

Not really. He seems like more of a hard-nosed rebounder and under-sized interior defender (Tucker) than a super lanky perimeter traffic director (Ariza). It doesn't have to be that black and white though. I'm good with Clark as an all-around defender.

And Ennis is more of the mold and movement style to be Ariza, but he won't be. He's an energy bench guy who should play 10-12 minutes.

Obviously a keeper, nothing else i can add to what i already read, seems like a Chuck Hayes kind of steal, and i love this.

It's nice to have a bright spot in an otherwise very negative season.

So basically we don't need Butler any more.

I'm still amazed that guy wasn't drafted. This is why teams have all these draft busts they draft a guy because he is younger and they pray he is going to improve and you have a guy like Clark who was an elite college player go undrafted. I just don't get it.

Definitely. I'd say let's trade Harden for Danuel House and this team is championship bound.

Basically, he plays basketball, and the team gives him money. Next question?

Chuck Hayes kind of steal because he went undrafted and turned out to be an important player.

Just in case others were wondering along with ATW, I’m bumping this after JRs blitz of artificially bumping 20 old Melo threads knocking every thread from yesterday off the table.

If we need him, we get him. If we don't, we don't. Wait, Melo's works that way too.
