All my defensive driving information has to be postmarked by tomorrow. I have my defensive driving certificate and my notorized affidavit.

However my driving records is still not here (kind of my fault, I ordered it late). Anyways, I tried calling the DPS hotline and it has been down all day so I cannot obtain information through them.

I was wondering can my sister in Austin get my drivers record? What would she need? Do I have to give some sort of permission? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Back when I lived in Austin, I picked up a driver record for a friend of mine in a situation similar to yours, so I guess it is possible. I can't remember what all I needed to do it.

Of course, this was 12 years ago and before 9/11, so who knows if you can still do that.

I had the exact problem as you earlier this year.. like March-ish. I just went to court with everything else that I needed like the Defensive Driving certificate and all and told the judge I ordered the record and it hasn't arrived yet for some reason (actually the reason is the same as yours, cheers!).

The 2 ladies that works next to the judge just told me to come back as soon as it comes in the mail and everything will be set. And I did just that. Everything is fine...

I did the same thing a couple of years ago. The clerks told me to write a letter to the judge asking for an extension and explaining why. Didn't have any problems.

For the record: I was able to fax over a form giving my sister to permission to
obtain my drivers record. She just scanned it and emailed it to me and it was all
    good. :)
