Can someone clarify something about the amnesty and the luxury tax?

    Is there a deadline during the season to amnesty someone? Can a team amnesty a player towards the end of the season to avoid the luxury tax for this year? If they can, can we pick them up before the playoffs?

    I believe the amnesty period is sometime in July. I could be wrong though.

    Yeah, certainly in the off-season and the rockets already used theirs and each team only has one. I think.

    Each team only gets one, and the Rockets already used it on Scola.

    Even if the player was just waived, and not amnestied, there's a deadline that makes them eligible for playoffs. I think it's sometime in March.
