ok the rocks could have sam mack, stacy augmon, and don mclean right now but instead he has matt bullard at the sf. mclean averaged 10 pts a game last year but is not playign this year? mack was great for us this year but he would rather sign devon gray? augmon could be a good starter but he released him? why does rudy not handle his roster very good. i mean walt went from starter to not playing, malney went from starter to being released. it seems like rudy doesn't understnad that someone can be demoted from starter but still play. just had to get that out

Rocket Fan - Augmon was only included in the trade for Salary cap equalization purposes, and it was part of the agreement that he be released and then re-sign with the Blazers - he was never going to be a rocket.(thats my supposition only)
Brahma: At the time, word was that McDyess really wanted Houston - I think he has a home here anyway, but the Rockets were vigorously pursuing Pippen so he looked elsewhere.

One of Antonios top Choices was coming to play for Houston but he decided he didnt want to because he didnt like the backcourt the rockets had. That is why he didnt sign.

I bet he would love to play here now.

Yeah, I think it is unfair to say we chose Pippen over McDyess rather than McDyess choosing Denver over us. Crappy PGs was one problem. Another was Barkley playing the PF position. But remember, he also gave up playing with Kidd in Phoenix to sign with Denver for less money. He really wants to be in Denver. I remember at the time that our focus shifted from McDyess to Pippen when McDyess hesitated. You can't blame this on Rudy.

As for the other roster moves, I think you're being unfair to Rudy T. I don't understand the Mack situation so I won't speak to it. But Augmon obviously didn't want to play for us so why should we keep him around? That is one thing the Rockets are proud of: that the players want to play here. As for MacLean, he's not that great a player, I wanted him cut, I'm glad he was cut, and I don't think it has hurt us that he was cut.

I know. We didnt need them. Augmon showed he didnt want to play. And Mclean does not fit this team. So i think we made good choices. JUST get KENYON MARTIN AND A GOOD FREE AGENT THEN WE ARE SET!

    Rocket Fan,

I keep hearing two stories on Augmon. I wanted him for defensive reasons obviously and was disappointed we didn't keep him.

    I have heard:

    1) He didn't want to play here and didn't do squat in training camp, showing he didn't want to be here. He wasn't cut till the last, I think.

    2) It was part of the deal that we release him and let him sign back with the Trail Blazers.

Either one is good enough reason in my book to let him go, but I lean toward the second. It just makes more sense.

I think if any one thing is Rudy's strong point (and Carroll Dawson), it is picking good players and/or motivation. I think it is unjust or not knowledgeable of our coaches to suggest otherwise.

    GO ROCKETS!
