Rajon Rondo told me he was more confident in his 3-point shot and had been working hard on it. Form on 3 he just hit looked best it ever had
— Marc J. Hope he makes a jump this year. Very exciting he can carry the Celts this year.
For the amount of time he's been in the NBA, I doubt his shooting is gonna get much better. I'd have to see 20-25 games of consistent good shooting to believe otherwise. A tweet about one three that Rondo just hit isn't gonna cut it. His lack of shooting is what is keeping him from being on the same level as the CP3s and Dwills.
I already consider him the top PG in the league today. If his shot becomes consistent, then we're talking possibly Top 5 ever
It isn't just about 3-point shooting, though that would help. He needs to hit mid-range jumpers and FTs.
he needs to start the season the way he finished the last one, and maintain it. As opposed to taking games and even months off. He also kind of got lazy defensively last year, playing next to an elite perimeter defender. I like the Celtics and Rondo a lot, and I hope he steps up. I'm skeptical re 3s, but just giving 100% and staying consistent and cutting on the diva stuff in the locker room would put him on the CP3 level.
I disagree. He's on the same level as CP3 and Dwill because of everything else he does. If he starts hitting shots, he'll be the best pg in the league, but also one of the worst dressers.
Dwill - maybe, considering DWill had an off year in many ways, on the court and in the locker room / leadership wise. But I'd have a very hard time putting Rondo on CP3 level right now.
I am okay putting this on record. He will be the best point gaurd in the league this year (and I did not think he was a top 5 last year).
I feel like we have this conversation each preseason. "Yeah, he's a good PG but can he become the best?" "If he works on his shot..."
If Rondo can hit outside shots consistently then he would be unstoppable.......unless Wade decides to break his elbow again
Oh lord. Oh my lord. It's like people forget how ridiculously great CP3 is. Nobody controls an offensive game from the PG position like he does right now. And plus, no one has been guarding his jumpshot since he came into the league. Every jumpshot he has taken so far has been a practice jumpshot for most players in the NBA (and yet he still shoots sub. 30% from midrange). If he hasn't gotten better this far into his career (going into his 7th year), he's not going to be any better as a jumpshooter. He is who he is as a player basically. He's like a poor man's prime Jason Kidd.
http://gothicginobili.com/?p=4137 Player capsule for Rondo is a good read. tldr: Rondo makes highlight reel passes, but the end result at the end of the day leaves something to be desired. Boston's offensive rating last season was 27th worst in the league. Considering Rondo has 3 HOFs to work with and he basically has free rein running the Celtics offense, shouldn't he take some blame for that?
considering the Turkish team yesterday played several feet off Rondo, and he still couldn't do anything other than try to drive and turn over the ball.................i think his shooting improvement might be a bit exaggerated.
