Damn this team is lookin better as the games go on and Im thinkin we will go far this year. I just think we might have problems against LA,Dallas or Sacremento cuz any other team I think we could beat.
Anything is possible. If they get hot at the right time and with a little bit of luck who knows? But get into the playoff is their first priority and let see how it goes from there. The Rocket had a history of going deep into the playoff with team that came in with a low seed in the playoff. Remember the year when Moses Malone and Calvin Murphy took them into the Finals against Boston when they came in as the last seed. Remember the Rockets team that came in as the 6th place team and won it all in "95? That team peak at the right time and they beat 3 teams that win 60 games to win it all. People might point out that the Rockets team in '95 was the defending champion so they have much more experience. So even though it is unlikely but I think the possibility is there. It depend on how much Yao develop by the end of the year and also on how the team gel together.
If they "peak" around playoff time, anything is possible. Imagine this team hitting on all cyclinders! Say Francis and Mobley were on a hot-shooting streak, imagine Griffin really on a tear, picture Ming in a 20-20-10 groove. Oh Baby!
Don't ya know it! He had some playing time last game (2 minutes?). That guy has a presence. I can see it. He reminds me of Toni Kukoc. Breadth, wingspan, good hands, and good court vision. I can't wait for this guy to get healthy/stronger.
Even though I am wild Rockets fan, I really doubt that we can win it all this year. I beleive in one step at a time. Get me playoffs, maybe second round and I be happy.
No doubt in my mind the Rockets have what it takes to win it all. When we are on our game, the best parts such as the passing and defense-we can't be beat. Look at games where we've tighted up the D and moved it around like at Indiana, Sacramento, Hawks, etc. We have the scorers-when they're on, no one beats us.
I agree. They have shown the offensive capabilities to compete with anyone in the league. Furthermore they have completely shut down some good teams in the fourth quarter this season. (tying the franchise low for pts allowed in a quarter in one game, i believe) I they jell at playoff time, I wouldnt count out a run at the finals. Imagine, a west final beating the Lakers. Shaq vs. Yao, as a rookie. It would be make for a great passing of the torch. Then of course, the east sucks and we sweep the finals for old-time sakes. Believe in Yao.
I think it depends on how healthy we are and if we are clicking come playoff time. I think it's all about peaking at the right time.
I will be happy if Terrence Morris gets more rest on the bench. You can't throw up that many bricks without getting tired. Give him 2 months of vacation.
Skill and talent wise I think the Rockets have what it takes to win it all. I just don't think they are confident enough to be sitting in a tight situation in a game 7 against LA Dallas or Sac. Lack of confidence leads to stupid mistakes and thus loses games. If they get hot and surge out of the All Star break and run off 10 games then I think they could start building some confidence, maybe not for this year but maybe next. Im putting my money on the team going deep into the playoffs and who knows maybe causing some serious upsets. But they have enough pressure on them as it is so we need to just take one game at a time, one win at atime and hope to GOD no one gets hurt!!!!!!!
This team has the personnel to do it. However, only Rice, Cat & Cato have experienced the 2nd season! I think they'll need 1 year's experience in the playoffs to win it all. NEXT YEAR IS IT!!!!!
I agree. Considering the Rockets beat the good teams but lose the bad ones, we can win it all this year because there is no bad teams in the playoffs.
What excites me about the Rockets this year is that they have ALL the talent they need to win a title. All they have to do is develop chemistry as the season goes on, and pick up some valuable playoff experience. Once the Rockets have playoff experience, I firmly believe that we will no longer see games like the Memphis-Clippers weekend from hell. The Rockets have shown that they can beat good teams. Once they learn to bring it every night, and to play with playoff-style intensity against every team, the talent will lead them to a title.
