Can Rashard play for the Rox on a two year contract at the exemption amount then sign a long term contract at the Max when his two years are finished? Charles did it. Maurice kinda did it. I wonder if Rashard can/will do it. That would be the sweetest situation because we won't have to worry about making a sign and trade deal with the Sonics. Also if he does do it will the NBA hit Houston with a penalty like the Joe Smith contract?
Although he is one of my favorite players mainly because we attended the same high school, we really do not need him. Unless the deal involves Rice in a sign and trade.
How many years does Rashard have to be under contract before he can be signed to a max contract? How does "early bird" and full bird rights work? Can we use the exception to sign him until he has Bird rights?
