I was going to ask for some "Mobley-loving", but I figured I better not because Rockets03 might respond in a gay manner that gets him booted. Anyhow, forget your Mobley-hating for one thread...mmmm-kay,,,I don't really give a crap. Rudy loves this boy, and I wish I was Rudy...so there you go! Tell me what you love about Mobley! For how outstanding of a player Cuttino is, he gets too much abuse. So tell us only what do you love about him. And come on, spare me the "I know he gets abuse, but he does...this and that....it's frustrating????" Please, can we have one thread of why you love watching Mobley. Bite your lip if you disagree for a second! Let me start: His ability to play above the rim on drives with 101 different finishes,...is...wha't...just jawdropping. That cannot ever be taught, and I honestly believe only like 5 guys in this league are quick enough to pull it off. I really have wondered about this boy. Is he dime a dozen shooting guard? These drives are just getting better and better. I know Francis throws down some dunks that are fun, but no one on this team makes me drop my jaw more than Mobley. The speed of Mobley is a dream for Rudy. It is a dream for us. Enjoy it. I can guarantee you won't see it much (if ever) again in your Rocket's years of cheering.
I like him because he is a little messed up in the head. Seriously, people were most often using the word "crazy" to describe him when he first came into the league. This gives him unpredictability, psychological edge. Also, he has a killer instinct. He wants to win every game, and he doesn't mind missing a shot - usually making him pretty clutch. ------------------ EZLN
I love his attitude, he hates to lose, and it shows. I love how he is aggressive and goes to the hole for Monster jams even with a hyperextended elbow. I love his heart, and his passion. I love his being unafraid to fail or fearlessness, he does not shy away from the game deciding play, in fact he wants the ball. I love his comraderie with Steve Francis, they are going to be great to watch. Love for the cat !!! That he is able to get inside this year even without Cato and Carlos diving from the weakside like he had in 1999-2000. Mango ------------------ Lets get the Mo Go working! Those eyes before he attacks. Does anyone remember the Hou-Por game last year in which Cat destroyed Scottie? I remember a few plays where Scottie laid off a few feet (b/c of Cat's footspeed) and Cat just approvingly drained it from the arc. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
I love the whole package More specifically: His confidence, ie game winner in his first season The speed, especially the first step, but also the whole drive. His finishing His Left Handed Looseness and Unpredictability, which seems to annoy plenty of BBSers. The J, especially when the D realises it has to back off to stop the drive The newly added pull up J which is just amazing. Finally, the improvement he has shown with each of his three seasons, which completely contradicts the criticism he copped from BBSers in his first 2 years. I LOVE MOBES Smeg PS CUT-Tino ------------------ "What is it with this girl, has she got beer flavoured nipples??" - Heath Ledger in 10 things I hate about you
CRIKEY.....you love his whole package. huh ------------------ Oh btw Smeg I agree with everything you said. Mobley is a joy to watch play. [This message has been edited by DAROckets (edited January 04, 2001).]
All that, AND he's straight out of the Second Round of the NBA draft. Wait... I guess that's more of a praise to the Rockets organization. Nevermind. ------------------
He's left handed, I'm left handed. He's a SG, I'm a SG. What's not to like? ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
Unbelievable! 8 posts & now 9 without one negative comment. Ya gotta believe that there is hope for society yet. I like the fact that he didn't leave for the money, but took less to stay & help finish what he is a big part of. I also love the fact that he's not afraid to accept the responsibility of winning or losing the game with the final shot. That's a sign of a leader. I'm also greatful that we don't have to play against him. ------------------
The CAT is simply unstoppable. Time and time again I have said that the only player that can stop Cuttino is himself. Not Kobe, not Vince, not Scottie. In the games, just watch the defenders feet and how they get all tangled up or how the defender is always on his heels. I really believe that Cuttino can get to the rim anytime he wants especially when they don't run the double team at him. I love his desire and determination and his heart. I also love that he doesnt mind wearing his emotions on his sleeves and he has cold ice water in his veins. One other thing is the Rockets still have a bargain with this guy even after this years contract. They will have to re-negotiate it in the next year or so because this guy will be a superstar along with Steve Francis similar to the duo of Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars. I was so glad to see that he was loyal and resigned with the Rockets cause if he didnt we certainly would have been lottery material. He and Steve of course are my favorite two players on the team even though my namesake says otherwise. I just happened to register at the same time Cato was doing well in the preseason last year. Anyway the CAT is the man and he is not a dime a dozen shooting guard. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder

i love that cat has the one thing dickerson never had: FIRE!! cat isn't afraid to be wrong, and obviously believes that gr8 chinese proverb: "he who has never failed, has never tried..." seriously, i think cat is the single most difficult player in the nba to stop. kobe is a close second. not only is his drive to the left simply unstoppable, he is developing the ability to go right. that mkes him a 20ppg scorer by the year's end. how many people here want to bet that the cat will be an allstar before dickerson? how many people here want to bet that the cat will be an allstar in the next 3 years? GO CAT GO! ------------------
Mobley positives: 1. Athletic 2. Hustles 3. Goes to the basket well 4. Adequate outside shot 5. Tough Mobley negatives: 1. Tends to hog the ball 2. Not a good defender 3. Dribbles off too much of the clock 4. Poor decision maker (especially on the fast break) 5. Goes for the spectacular play as opposed to the solid play. It may be fun to watch the spectacular play, but when it results in a turnover or missed opportunity, it hurts the team. ------------------
I like Mobes because IMO he is the best player on this team. He has great handles, good passing skills and unbelievable quickness. He is also smart enough to know that he has to work on his game to get even better, for instance, last year I said numerous times that if Cuttino could nail the midrange jumper with consistency the league was at his mercy(well, not in those exact words) and he has done just that. With Cuttino's quickness, ball handling skills, and improving shooting touch, IMO he could become one of the top 10 players in the league in years to come. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris Fan Club - est. 99-00
verse, I agree that Mobe should be in the All Star before Dickerson would. But the problem is Dickerson would get all the Canadian votes, while Mobe needs to share his votes with many other SG. That's makes a slimmer chance. bobrek, I can't say it better myself. Mobe's not perfect yet, but on the rise, on the rise, ... Oh! Can I add "individualism" in the Mobley negatives? (Oh! Sorry! Can't help it! ) ------------------
Forgot to say he is an inspirational leader in working hard to improve your game, for all the Rockets to emulate. Plus, playing with an abcessed tooth when we are desparately shorthanded, geeze, what a coach's dream.
getting back off topic. Did you all know this is the 6th quote by Achebe with Pollyana in it? And I think he had more deleted pollyana or anti-pollyana threads like the Jenna's demise threads. From Achebe's Pollyana Archives: Achebe telling someone to stop being nice to Mo' in a venting thread. Achebe not liking a disclaimer that asks for Pollyana responses to a trade rumor. Achebe compares barzilla to Caveman because there's no Pollyana for Barkley or RudyT in the two. [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited January 04, 2001).]
