Instead of asking here, why don't you check out the stats of LMA and Griffin when they matched up against the Knicks with Melo at PF? Real basketball of course. The Knicks have played real ones against both Clippers and Blazers with Melo.

And tell me the results of your findings. I'm interested to know.

They'll have to guard Melo instead of guarding nobody. That's half the battle.

Aldridge saved his energy cause he didn't have to guard Asik or Jones. On the other end he was playing horse against Jones.

Not sure where this notion that Melo is a bad defender comes from. He is not outstanding but he is average.

In all honesty, I think Morey is looking to use Parsons in a sign and trade, so that he can keep Asik. Morey was impressed with Osik playoff performance.

    I like Bev/Harden/Melo/Asik/Dwight better than Bev/Harden/Parsons/Melo/Dwight.....

    Thats just me...

Dont Know about 2k, but when they played last year Melo didnt do too bad vs LMA or Blake on the court:

Melo went for 34 pts and 15 reb to LMA's 18 and 14 on 11/25/13
    Melo went for 28 and 8 to LMA's 15 and 12 on2/5/14

    and Vs. Blake
Melo went for 27 and 10 to Blakes 15 and 10 on 11/27/2013
Melo went for 26 and 20 reb to Blakes 32 and 7 on 1/17/2014

So while hardly a great defensive player, he seems to have held his own vs both those guys. I dont think he is getting destroyed like many people think. Other than one great game by Blake, he didnt do badly at all. I think its a telling sign that in 4 games vs them he held them under 20 in 3 games.

There is a difference between trying and can't.

I feel Melo is a better 4 defender than 3 because he doesn't have to chase people around the court. He's very strong so he doesn't pushed around to much.

So 28.75 pts, 13.25 Rebs vs 19.25 pts, 10.75 Rebs. Sounds good.

Did you watch the video? His defense was average. Some of the criticism in the video would require Melo to be KG in order to make some of those rotations and challenges.

Also, you pulled up a video on a 'Antoni coached defense.

I think that it's not only a good showing of how he kept them under 20 in 3 of the 4 games (LMA scored over 40 in the 1st 2 games of the playoffs against us) but look at the other side. THEY CANT GUARD HIM. he almost doubled their points in 3 of the 4 games and the one time he didnt, he scored 26 pts and TRIPLED Griffin's rebounds... I think that destroys anything TJones can do.

If we used Parsons in a S&T but not Asik, we wouldn't have the capspace to sign Melo or LBJ (or Rondo or Love....)

he doesn't run back, he doesn't even try... oh yeah and he was against Rudy freaking Gay of all people, the guy that has made both of his previous teams better by not playing for them.

If youre asking this same old question, then you 're still lost. Its more of the effect of wearing the opponent down by making work on D. In essence, will slow these guys down enough to affect their offensive output. Let sink in for a couple.
