McCants is only 6'4 but is that enough height for the 2?

If so...this team is stacked when Tracy returns. (Except at the 5) :(

With that being true, this team is ONLY lacking height. I still see this team clawing to a 7th or 8th seed.

Tracy needs to be resigned. After this season, he should be making no more than 10 million per with ANY team. That's not bad for a ''little bit past his prime'' T-Mac for 3-4 more seasons.

Can't wait to have Yao back in camp next season :D

Yet he almost has a 7 foot wingspan.

He is NOT undersized at the 2...

i believe draftexpress has his wingspan and standing reach greater than jermaine taylors. nothing to worry about.

His wingspan will help, nevertheless it's not hard to post up a player with his height.

He can shoot and fast break. Thats all we needed from Wafer and he is arguably better than Wafer in the shooting department.

mccants can actually create a shot off the dribble by himself for the most part, thus he's already an upgrade from wafer.

however, like wafer, he can whine about minutes so hopefully he'll be acting right since it's only a one year deal.

I love the way people just casually add/subtract an inch or two from player's heights, just to make their arguments sound better. Charles Barkley is a perfect example of this. I swear, Chuck's gotten at least six inches shorter as the years have gone by.

You can claim he plays smaller than his height and wingspan if you want, but there's no doubt he's 6'4. Everyone in the NBA goes on shoe height btw, otherwise Brooks would be 5'10 and all the 7'0 people would be 6'10.

A 6'10.75 wingspan is above average for his height, but it's not crazy long or anything. James Harden registered at 6'5.25 and had the exact same wingspan and standing reach (8'7.5) as McCants, so maybe he's a good comparison in terms of playing size for McCants. Not undersized at all, unless you're talking about his ego which has undoubtedly taken a hit in the last couple of years. Hopefully.

    See my sig.

It doesn't matter since he doesn't play defence.

    Yes, he does actually.

He is a very capable defender. Huge misconception with him. He is a FAR better defender than Wafer...

"Defense: Has the length, strength and athleticism to be extremely effective on the wing. Appears to put good effort into this end of the floor at times and possesses good smarts and fundamentals, making him fairly capable when he wants to be. Takes possessions off on the defensive end, like everyone on Minnesota, but is an asset when he comes to play. Closes out under control and does a good job contesting shots and denying penetration. Makes up for his lack of prototypical size with his excellent wingspan. Uses his body extremely well, and will force his man to change directions when he seems to be beat. Will show extremely active hands in bursts. Doesn’t come over to help out from the weakside. Caters his defense to his matchup, showing great intensity when he’s guarding an elite player, but relaxing when he’s posed with a player that won’t score much. Does a good job recognizing his matchup, playing off players who aren’t shooters and crowding those that are. Not going to force many turnovers. Won’t rebound the ball at a very good rate at all. A cerebral defender that maintains good position, and knows what it takes to get the job done. Needs to avoid taking nights off and letting lesser players score on him when he’s not focused. Would help him to have a shot-blocking presence behind him to help out when he gets beat."
This is a fair article I think...

Well if I were in charge, I'd discard McCants and develop Budinger and Taylor. I honestly don't think there are enough minutes to go around...

Houston promised Ariza a big role. He's gonna need those minutes at SG before TMac gets back... and then when Tracy does get back, we can't 'jew' battier.

It was interesting in McGrady's interview today he mentioned how much his family loved it here and this was "home". I am thinking the Rockets will probably low ball him and he will probably take it.

The player he is today, he doesn't play defense, and is a wose chucker than Wafer. That's why he's signed to a non-guaranteed contract.

Are you considered a chucker if you make your shots?

Because he has...45% from the field, 40% from 3.

McCants is a malcontent, but this move by DM shows that he understands the need for scoring. If he felt that Taylor and Budinger/Ariza were good enough,he wouldn't have called McCants to the camp.

The only way we will resign Tracy is for a Sign and Trade.. No way do we pay Tracy 60,50, or even 40 million over 6,5,4 years. MLE then yes but anything over that is just crap. Morey is smart enough not to gamble like that. His Age and declining performances over the past 4 years proves he's not worth the contract extension worth that much.
