They won 6 straight and it's not exactly a soft schedule. They beat Phoenix, Cleveland and Dallas in that win streak. They are still 13 - 21 so it'll be a little while before they get to a point in which they are considered a playoff contenders but if Larry Brown can get this team into the playoffs, I would say he is the best coach in the league (even if he has the loyalty of Benedict Arnold).

LB is a great coach. One of the best in NBA history, even before he won his championship with the Pistons. I doubt the Knicks will keep this up because their roster just isn't good enough. Teams will adjust to them and they'll come down to earth. But anything could be possible in the Eastern Conference.

I believe in strong-handed coaches, but LB goes over the top even for me. When it comes to being a complete control freak, no other NBA coach approaches him. And LB takes it over the top with his public criticism of players and the mind games he plays on them with playing time and rotations.

Larry Brown is somewhat overrated imo - I came to this conclusion after some introspective examination. In fact many coaches are overrated in the purest sense of it. But before I commit myself too far lets see how his New Team finishes and how Flip's Detriot team finishes.

P.S. Mike Brown of the Cavaliers was touted as a good-to-great one coming from Indiana's bench as the deputy to Carlisle but from the little I have seen so far in Cavs games, he looks like a deer in headlights. His team does not necessarily play well but his team result will make you think or believe they do.

Wow, thats crazy how you used introspective examination to theorize that Larry Brown is overrated. Indeed.

    Good Day Sir!

Popovich is by far the most authoritarian coach in the league, even Larry Brown is not nearly as bad.

Pop is a normal person who doesn't play mind games with his players. Well, I guess the only mind game he plays is "I say it, you do it" until the player makes up his mind to fall in line. He lays down the law and everybody on the team knows what's expected. LB is an insecure flake who delights in being mysterious to his players. This is what drives me crazy. Pop is secure enough that he doesn't do that garbage.

tigermission1, I rank these two up there together. I thought Pop had been going a teensy weensy bit soft until he ripped into the team Tuesday night after they beat the Nets. Same old Pop.

Fegwu, I also have serious reservations about Mike Brown. He publicly kisses up to LeBron way too much. That's not healthy IMO. There also have been rumors the players are grumbling his practices are too long. Let's see how the Cavs finish up the regular season. If they finish strong, it may be just a case of Mike Brown growing into the job. If they finish the season in a slump while LeBron racks up incredible stats, Cleveland has a problem.

Fegwu, you can't judge LB by just the last 2 seasons. His long body of work speaks for itself. He was a great coach before he won his championship. LB's two years in Detroit weren't necessarily his greatest coaching jobs, and a complete failure with the Knicks will do nothing to diminish his stature.

The Knicks are a young and talented team. I predict before the season that they will make the playoffs as the 6th-8th seed and I'm sticking with my prediction. Unlike the NY team from previous years, this team actually has some legit size on its front line. The future is very bright for this team.
