Please humor me a little. Those of you who are parents will understand.

My daughter, who turns sixteen today, is a sophomore at Bishop Kelly High and plays on the golf team. When she was asking the coach about playing before season started, he kind of discouraged her saying they had several good returning upperclassman from last year's state champs. (Idaho) Anyway, she started the season as the # 4 player on the team. I had been really happy for her so far, usually having the best or second best score of all the # 4 players in the matches.

Anyway, to make a long story short, yesterday, she had the lowest score overall in an invitational of about 15 schools.

    Can you say proud papa?

    Thank you for your support.

Congradulations, Moe, and to your daughter.

High school golf is a little more competetive than most people would think.

I remember in my HS, my Freshmen year, I played a little golf occasionally, as was not all that bad. I decided to try out for the team because, in my mind, no high school students would ever play golf, and my spot was a shoe in.

Well, I didn't strike all that poorly, but I'll be damned if those other guys didn't make me look like Rosie O'Donnel with a stick...

    It was quite embarassing.

Sweet 16 eh? I'll give her a present she won't forget. Nooo...not that! My friend's jewelry shop has a 70% off sale.

Sorries I'm 17, don't really know the feeling...I'm usually the guy driving parents nuts by taking out their daughters and coming back really late.

Rich, I wish that were true. Her instructor says her swing plane is just about perfect. She is a small girl and is regularly about 220 off the tee.

You should definitely be proud of your daughter. That's awesome for her to have that type of mentality. I bet that most kids would've felt really discouraged having a coach tell them that. I guess that motivated her.

Well, congrats to you and your birthday girl! [IMG]
