Guys, I live in Utah, not a Mormon, but I just love the Jazz (damn, who are throwing those eggs?). I am now an avid Rockets fan, because of Yao. The Rockets and the Jazz are the two teams I love the most, and I root for the Jazz all the time UNLESS THEY PLAY THE ROCKETS, in which case I would take pain killers and root for the Rockets.

I just got back from that "official I hate the Jazz thread", and I found the hatred there is... damn! Holy crap, why do yall hate the Jazz that much? OK, help me out here, I am a newcomer to the Roxville, and I don't know the history well. Did anything happen to these two teams that cause us(as in Rockets fan) to hate us(as in Jazz fans) this much? Come on, we(as in Rockets fans) won two championships, and we(as in Jazz fans) has none, and what are we(as in Rockets fans) complaining about? In Utah, no one gives a damn about the Rockets. Most of their hatred seems to be toward the Lakers/Spurs(who own the Jazz)/Jail Blazers.

BTW, can I be a legitmate Rockets fan and Jazz fan at the same time??? I've been in Utah for 5 years, while loving it, I want to move to Houston someday just for the Rockets. Will I get beat up there all the time when I tell others I love the Jazz too?

HELL NO you can't be both. Make your choice and live with it. Now you might could have gotten away with saying you loved both the Rockets and the Spurs or the Rockets and the Mavs. You can never like the Jazz if you like the Rockets.

    No.

Before you can become a true Rockets fan, you must pronounce your hatred of the Jazz. You allowed to admire Stockton and Malone, but you must hate them just the same.

And the hatred must be a real, from-the-heart kind of hatred. You can't merely say you hate them -- your blood pressure must actually rise significantly anytime you see John Stockton with the ball near the 3-point line.

There are no exceptions to this rule.

Houston fans hate Utah because they beat the Rockets in '97, I believe with a buzzer beater 3. That alone would be enough for us to hate them, but Utah also plays dirty and they flop a lot. Karl Malone elbows little kids and John St falls down when the wind rises to 2 MPH. That's most of the reasons I can think of.

As for you being a Jazz fan except when they play the Rockets, I don't think you will be liked. I know you would like the Jazz to lose to the Rockets, but most fans would wish death to that team. (Not me though.:)) But who knows..maybe you can.

lol...you're not a Mormon. Why did you say that?!? If you live in Utah, then support the Jazz. But you shouldn't support both! But you can! But you shouldn't! Go Rockets! lol...is there an online Utah Jazz community as good as this?

Must there be a reason to hate the Jazz?

Do Red Sox fans and Yankees fans have a reason for hating the other team?
    The Giants and the Dodgers?
    The Cowboys and the Redskins?
    Duke and North Carolina?
Every married guy and their mother in law?

NO! They just hate each other, plain and simple. When you play a team a bunch of times and you remember what that team has done to you, you just learn to hate them

The rivalry started during the championship years when we beat the Jazz from behind to get to the playoffs. The real hatred came during the WCF when Flopton and Malone flopped their way to a 3-2 lead in the series. We were headed to overtime when Stockton made that 3 pointer at the buzzer while Karl Malone bear hugged Elie (not sure). I have that clip on my TV and it was bad. Malone pretty muched hugged him and pushed him about 10 feet to get Stockton free. Hakeem pretty much called Malone a cheat sinced they flopped so much and played so dirty during that series. That stopped a potential series between the Rocks and the Bulls which we matched up with very well.

Not only must you hate the current Jazz team, but...

    * You must also hate anyone who has ever put on the uniform.

    * You must have either Stockton's or Malone's picture on a dartboard somewhere in your house.

    * You have at least one fresh new hole in a wall of your house due to the recent Rockets/Jazz game.

    * You can no longer have as much fun on Bourbon Street because you keep thinking that you're in the city where the Jazz used to play.

    * If you have a pet bird, Jerry Sloan's picture must be used under the cage instead of newspaper.

    * Every time you listen to jazz music, you must experienced a pissed-off feeling that you can't quite put your finger on.

jamalccc...it's not just Rockets fans, but all non-Jazz fans have an undying hatred for Utah and their beloved Jazz.

Like a flock of birds instinctly flying southward during the winter...like our bodies knowing how to breath air when we are first born...like the miracle of the sun always rising in the east and setting in the west...hatred for the Utah Jazz is just natural. We are born with this instinct. Become an objective observer of one of their games and tell me if you can't see something wrong. Of course, we'll hear an argument that they play hard and smart, and I'll agree, they are one of the most fundamentally sound teams in the history of the league, but what has that gotten them. ZERO RINGS and a reputation of being flops and dirty players.

In actuality, the Jazz used to not be as bad...ironically, this was the pre-Stockton/Malone/Sloan days.

In closing, I just wanted to say...

    I HATE THE UTAH JAZZ!

(and no, you cannot be a fan of both teams!)

You obviously have serious issues in your life that need to be addressed. I would advise that you seek professional help. ;)

I, and I am sure most everyone else in this forum, would gladly throw a party if the Utah Jazz plane crashed on the way to a road game.

No, you can't be a fan of both. Period.

I just wanted to say I laughed out loud when I read this, friggin' hilarious.

Anyway, I don't hate the Jazz as much as I used to. Karl Malone hasn't seemed so bad ever since Jimmy Kimmel started impersonating him on the Man Show.

    Rockbox,
It was Clyde that Malone bear hugged so Stockton could get off the 3. I believe Carla paid the refs on that play, because I have never seen a more blatant foul in my life and it was right at the ball so I can for the life of me see how it went ignored. Now ever time Malone complains to the refs, I want to kill the SOB. It should have cost him a lifetime of keeping his mouth shut to not get called for the foul back in 97s playoff game. I would not minded (yes I would) losing that game if he would have hit the shot with Clyde in his face and not in a Malone bearhug. I get red faced every time I think about it. Freaking Jazz

Why is it that my sense of humor is my downfall in the spelling contest? I HATE JOHN STOCKTON!

BTW, thanks. I try. And for those who haven't realized, John St was supposed to be John Stockton...darn him...
