Like many other Rockets fans I was embarrassed by last night's performance, so I have a question. What's wrong with a fan being critical of the team they love. Yes, we should celebrate our team when they do well, but I don't see anything wrong with being honest about their shortcomings as well. Many posters on this site lose their minds when you are the least bit critical of the Rockets and it makes no sense to me. We are the most qualified people to be critical of the Rockets because we love them and pay more attention to them than the national media or casual NBA fan. I just feel we should be a little more mature here and respect the opinions of others.
I agree with you. I’m always critical, but I love the team and root for nobody else. In my opinion, people that refuse to criticize aren’t problem solvers. They just want to heap blame anywhere but the team and they choose other fans who criticize as a place to take out their frustration.
When I'm critical of our team, I get wrongly accused of being a Mavs fan when I've repeatedly met numerous people from CF in real life and proven time and time again that I am a Rockets fan. So to answer your question, no you cannot be critical of our team, lol!
There some babies in here, there nothing wrong with criticizing your team. They will tell you(some members here) that you are a rockets hater, and want them to lose, and you should be banned. Thats not always true, we all could see the team gave up last night, and some like me were pissed. But you just dont call out people like ya we are warriors fans be we criticize some of this, im am a rockets fan, just cause i say harden sucks tonight , dont mean im a warriors fan. Your suppose to say "Its ok Harden you still the best, dont play defense anymore, we will always love you"..
Being a die hard fan doesn’t necessarily make one the most qualified to criticize the team, because being emotionally invested in what the team does (or doesn’t do) will cloud judgment. Extreme disappointment means we’re less likely to come up with an objective analysis of what went wrong, and more likely to look for people on the team (or officials on the court) to lash out at. But the opposite is also true. Some people get so defensive because of their attachment that they will interpret any criticism, well earned or not, as a knee jerk personal attack.
if you're being fair about your criticism, why not? i do see a bunch of people who unfairly criticize, like if i report that there might've been an injury and people were saying it's a knee jerk thread. i was legitimately concerned, and i wasn't saying we're doomed for the series.... on the other hand, bunch of idiots who keep saying that we need to trade Harden, a true superstar who is a top-3 player in the NBA, then we need to stop and re-evaluate if we're true fans. i mean, we should just be happy that we're even in contention.
there's knee-jerking, there's being critical, and there's being analytical. (Knee-jerking can be further broken down into sub-categories of whining and crybabying.) Way too much of the knee-jerking going on right now, in all its forms.
I'm with you brother. If there was a time to criticize the Rockets...now would be it. They absolutely deserve the criticism and flack. I'd go as far as they deserve some of the fan base to turn on them for the garbage effort they put out in the most pivotal game of the West Finals. We're all fans of the Rockets...that's the common denominator. But being a fan also means being a realist. It is absolutely warranted to criticize a piss poor effort. People talking about us fans taking Harden/Rockets for granted..........nope..... it's the other way around. This Rockets team took the series and fans for granted. All that talk about wanting to beat the Warriors badly.....we saw that one game (game 2). Until proven otherwise (i.e. winning game 4, 5 and 6 or 7)......Rockets are just all talk and pyrite. This is coming from a fan (myself) that has touted the Rockets for being the best and will win it all this season. Problem with that is the higher you are on a team...the harder you fall when they disappoint like they did last night. This is not about a team not delivering a win....it's about them disappointing the fan base....and we all know what the distinction is...barring any smart-alec responses or kool-aid drinking Harden only fan or Rocket fan that just can't seem to take their rose-colored shades off. So be it. Criticize away......Rockets have earned it.
I dun think Chris Paul is that Offense Player no more, well he can give you 30 or even 40 on a night every 3rd of 4th game. But he can't do it no more.
Of course they can, and piss off if you think they can't.....no one can judge anyone else's fandom - that is an individual construct. Bunch of snowflakes...try going to Philly..... Panzies ! DD
Absolutely can be critical. When criticism moves into trolling it's problematic, otherwise I'd expect nothing less of a good fan then to be critical. We get so disappointed because we care so much. I only take issue with the guys who live for the moment when we don't win so they can jump on here and say "I told you so!" Some of these guys are rooting so hard for failure just so they can be the victor on the message board.
i want to criticize them but im too drained. That 41 point lead by gsw was too tiring to be even angry about. I guess the only good thing is its still equivalent to one loss. And if we win the next game we are still very much in it. All is not lost. but yes pissed poor performance by the rockets and they deserve the tough love criticism.
I don’t think damn tonni and murray are scavenging the boards for advice so I don’t know how many problems the fans are solving by being critical. I agree though that it’s fine to be critical of your favorite teams I personally just don’t like to criticize during the playoffs. I just don’t like the juju. I’m all for being critical during the offseason and regular season though. It’s drives conversion for fans.
When mentality and effort are the only reasons you lose year after year, you bet your ass you can be critical. These guys make disgusting amounts of money playing a game. It's insulting to every single person that considers themselves a fan when they bring this level of effort to ANY game, no less in the conference finals against the reigning champs. Gross. When the effort is there, you can't blame them for just not being good enough. That is not what we are seeing here.
Yea like other's in here are saying, no one is saying you cant be critical. Theres just too much knee jerking and whining, and you guys do it like....alot.....LIKE ALOT. And when we win alot of you LOL "criticizers" are no were to be found. Never mind that alot of you critics after this loss are talking about "effort" and providing no meaningful analysis or strategy.
